  1. Whew, just searched all those names and it seems I haven't caught a leader online - I'll be on all day since I have off, if one of you folks catch me would you mind tossing an invite my way? Thanks!

Welcome to Final Fantasy! From the name I'm guessing you're a Roegadyn? If so, awesome! We need more of them You would be right about the "RP is in pockets" comment, however that's not necessarily true for Balmung. In Balmung, RP is every where. If you're willing to transfer, I highly suggest it - it's worth the money, trust me. If you do transfer to Balmung we should totally roleplay some time! Otherwise, good luck in your search - keep your eyes peeled!
  3. Character Name: Willow Evinar Wiki link/short description: A small wiki here. The tl;dr of it all is that Willow is conjurer with absolutely awful memory. Have you completed the MSQ up until end of 3.4: Don't think so, I have a lot of gearing left to be done still so I'm stuck on MSQ, but I have no concerns about spoilers what so ever. Lay 'em on me! My character should be anonymous: Either works.
  4. Ooo I've actually been wondering that myself, so I think I'll try tonight and post results Update: I'm having ridiculous amounts of success with this. Got a hit in the first five minutes and have added a handful of new folks on my friend's list. I had a quick little blurb about the character and offered a service she might be able to provide while making it sound light-hearted and fun, and I've been met with nothing but positivity. I really recommend it! (Will definitely be doing more of this in the future.)

  6. Seconding Lililove on the Tumblr idea! It's super interactive and is checked full of FFXIV players, and roleplayers especially. If you decide to go through with a Tumblr, let us know and post a link! I'd be more than happy to give you a follow. (I might also be able to give some pointers on how to set up your Tumblr profike and widgets)
  7. Trust me, the $18 is so worth it, especially when you use it to transfer a full roster (8 characters) over. Gilgamesh as I hear had something of an implosion(iirc) in its roleplaying community and now it's even harder than before to get into. I can only speak for Balmung, with which I can guarantee is rife with opportunities, even just going in blind without any pre-made friends; roleplay is a plenty and everyone here's generally super friendly!

    Hello!

If I may offer the standard suggestion for transfers: make a few and transfer them all over at once. That one-time fee lets you bring over as many over from one server to the other as you want, so you can bring your second character over plus some placeholders for if you have ideas for other characters in the future. That isn't a bad idea, but do you know how that works with the cheaper sub that only allows 1 character per server? That's what I'm currently using since I'm busy IRL and can't really handle a lot of alting like I used to! ^^; Do you get to designate which one's active or something? I believe you used to be able to, but you can't anymore. Now they designate the activity to the first character on your roster. There might be other deciding factors but that seems to be it right now. Hit me up in game some time, I'd love to roleplay with your character!
  9. Omigoodness how nice! Definitely... 1. Mog Station Costume 2. Sophic Barding 3. Fenrir Pup 4. (Pass)
  10. Oh my goodness. When you get on Balmung, toss a tell my way! I'd love to roleplay with Miya on Saoirse, I think they two of them could really see eye-to-eye, since they're both rather down on their luck. Saoirse wanders all over La Noscea and a teensy bit of Thanalan, so we should work something out.
  11. Saoirse is an average ignorant girl, mostly because she only ever was around her superstitious Gridanian parents and their deep Shroud wives tales and beliefs, or Noscean farmers and anyone within the Arcanist’s guild. She has a basic understanding of the aether, how it works, etc but everything else is in muddled bits and pieces. Since she's a “newly embarked” character, it hasn't come up yet, but I'm excited when it does. She doesn't know what men's bodies look like unclothed. She's not sure if even all women look the same unclothed. She's convinced there's such a thing as reincarnation, and needs to bury people with their belongings for their “next life”. She doesn't believe in the Void because she's never seen it herself (lol) but believes there's an “otherworld” that spirits and ghastly monsters come from that in difficult conversation she’ll concede to calling The Void. She believes that beyond the known Twelve there “local deities”, and that things who've been in our world for long such as large trees and boulders have spirits of their own. Offering beloved items to these spirits and local gods can grant favours, but sacrificing the wicked is the best way to appeal to the Twelve. She also believes that heads are precious as they control the undead spirit of the person they belong to, and separating it is a dangerous, selfish, and horrific thing to do. (A lot of this is based off of Celtic polytheism/paganism admittedly) and that's all just the tip of the iceberg. Hiccups? You swallowed someone's breath and best get it out before you get sick. Milk spoils after a day? You made a friend mad and better apologise fast.
  12. Incompetent bastard childishly runs away from home as a last act of rebellion because she thinks herself too good for her fiancée.
  13. Hmm. It might be a matter of lack of context but I'd be minorly annoyed if my story telling took a back burner to how my friends wanted their characters to be happy/comfortable, but then again I'm a roleplayer that adores dipping into more mature roleplay and finding others of similar mind. However, I believe that if the person is uncomfortable OOCly it is their responsibility to voice this, preferably openly and clearly as difficult as it might be, because unless both parties understand each other one can only rely on assumptions, such as the assumption that saying "my character would be sad" is a low-key suggestion that the player isn't comfortable with it. At the end of the day, if someone decides to stop being friends with you because of your decision with your character, your creative property, it's probably for the best. I believe there's a lot of situations where killing a character can really cause a buttload of problems for the other roleplayer, but only saying "my character would be sad" is an insufficient argument at a face value. There are no victims to be had when someone chooses not to communicate, in my opinion. We're not all mind-readers here, gotta cut us some slack!
  14. Hmm. It might be a matter of lack of context but I'd be minorly annoyed if my story telling took a back burner to how my friends wanted their characters to be happy/comfortable, but then again I'm a roleplayer that adores dipping into more mature roleplay and finding others of similar mind. Anyways! 1. Have you killed your character before? Yes, many over the years! Mostly a matter of story telling, once my rolls were simply god awful so my roleplaying main at the time really kicked the bucket. He died defending the people he loved, at least. And people cried for him, so it was very sweet. Honestly, the most absolutely thrilling, edge of the seat and getting me shaking roleplay was when my character was threatened death after being stalked by an enemy and when I was unprepared for it oocly (as in it was bound to happen I knew but not when haha). To this day, that adrenaline of "oh man this character I poured so much into, that has so much life left might die" was intense. Her surviving that encounter by her wits and strategy alone made ripples in her circle. Her death would have made waves. No matter how it ended, the development and enjoyment it brought was incredible. 2. How did your friends take it? Always well. The folks I roleplayed with throughout these story lines are no spring chickens to roleplay and have enough roleplaying experience under their belt to know that sometimes, death just happens. The way we always saw it was it's a lot more fun for a character and a roleplayer to remember just how mortal you are and arguably makes for more realistic (selfish or martyristic) responses to gut-wrenching terror. Actually, come to think of it, there was one guy who was upset at the prospect of my character dying, but we were roleplaying a blooming romance at the time and since his character was "close to home" we'll say he got really upset oocly which proved a bit problematic after the ordeal which is probably why I have such a firm opinion today. Now when I see things like that happening I'm like "Red lights! Red lights! Possible ooc mixing with ic!" 3. Would you not want to RP with someone who may unceremoniously kill off their character? Why? Hmm. Depends on the definition of unceremoniously but assuming it means out of the blue and for no rhyme or reason I'd kind of tick my head to the side, but it's not MY character and my enjoyment is no more important than yours. I want to emphasis that. You do what you enjoy. Being conscious of what others enjoy makes you an aware friend, but character death is a natural thing and not something to be afraid of. (Well, for the character at least!) But if someone brought a realistic fear of death into the roleplay, bringing forth a real consequence to actions? I'd want to roleplay with them in a heart beat so long as it's not murder hoboing haha. I've seen some folks mention someones character dying to incite drama or attention, and admittedly I've never seen it firsthand myself so I didn't think of that at first. I think that would annoy me as well, particularly if the death wasn't permanent. I'm of the belief that roleplay doesn't always make sense, that's what happens when you get a bunch of random people roleplaying together, but amongst friends I want to create the most satisfying and thrilling roleplay for everyone.
  15. O: *Claps hands to face* 1. Morpho 2. Lesser Panda 3. Guild Tabard 4. High House Justaucorps 5.
  16. This fall is going to be fantastic. New Pokemon game, new FFXIV expansion, and my birthday. Also, RIFT is the first game I can think of off the top of my head having mage tanks. They had everything come to think of it, even rogue tanks and heals.

    Hello!

Welcome aboard the FFXIV crowd! There's a lot of great folks, really, and RP is absolutely everywhere... so long as you're on the right server, that is. Speaking of, what server are you on? There's something of a disparity of roleplay on some servers, and depending on if you want to transfer, folks on the forums might be able to hook you up with a Free Company on the server you're inhabiting.
  18. I have finally come to the conclusion that Velour's theme song would undoubtedly be this. [video=youtube]
  19. Every time I thought about it, I couldn't. I'm much too forgetful and with roleplay being a centric focus of mine I'd have to be on another server for just that. I would have a terribly difficult time keeping two different universes separate. Separate alts, it'd have to be!
  20. Since Velour had begun leaving home, she travelled to Ishgard as she'd visited it twice before in the past with her mother. She didn't see much of the city, giving lead to a curiosity about the higher levels of Ishgard. I'll tell you this much, she didn't make it far at first, haha. She happened across a starving cream coloured rat and befriended it, naming it Buscemi after a funny looking trader her mother consorted with. Buscemi (and her journal) are her only constant companions in her newly embarked adventures across Eorzea. It's also a good pick up, having a rat to blame social interactions on xP
  21. Hmm. that'd depend upon just how much work you want to put into this. I'm all for the idea of simply roleplaying it as a bazaar and seeing how things turn out, at least for the first one as a test run. That way you can see what kind of turn-out you'll get from merchants and customers, and gauge if such organization will be important. Things can happen in real life or for any reason folks can't get online sometimes, so scheduling crafters sounds like it could potentially lead to disappointment. :O
  22. Is there a list of things that are acceptable? Not being rude just very curious. I did not see any rules besides the ones posted on the sticky for guides. Please post I am actually curious. Its not so much matter of "what's acceptable" as it is a matter of roleplaying mental disorders as a gimmick is incredibly derogatory. ( I know this is a troll post but just wanted to scream that out into the internet finally )
