Some people prefer certain RP and prefer to go about it in this way. Best thing you can do is let them post their threads for interest and if you have no interest then just leave it alone. This honestly goes for just about any subject concerning RP. Like it? Cool. Participate. Have fun. Don't like it? Navigate away. I highly doubt those people will come siege you with RP you don't favor.

Personally, I've had too many experiences where I'm RPing something in public and folk try to join in, which is all fine and good, and then do something stupid like emote eating elephant peanuts or playing a game boy (not making this up) and do nothing but detract from the quality of the RP. Other times, especially if there is any detectable villainous presence at all in the RP, you get 85 white knights gathering and emoting at you and unless that's what you're going for it quickly becomes a headache to deal with. I eventually just decided that certain scenes and things were best kept in /p with desired people involved. Other times, at crowded events, it's just easier on the chat scroll to keep it in party. If two people are around my character and obviously RPing but I don't see it I just leave them alone or send a tell first if my character would somehow get involved with what they're doing. If something can be in /em I do that. But generally, depending on the context or if someone involved just doesn't want an audience that day I have no issues with /p.

It's worth noting too that it's 100% okay to play a Miqote without a tribal/clan affiliation aka 'city cat'. I RPed a Miqote once upon a time and found their lore to be a bit too character defining for my tastes.

I dig the AST change. Now instead of being slightly OP they're more balanced and have 3 DPS card options. Win/Win imo.

Tbh this is a great idea with a lot of potential. Toss in some nervous passerby's and patrons with some Sekiseigumi RPers and you've got a party.

To be honest, I don't think the Ala Mhigans care who identifies as Ala Mhigan as long as you fight for the cause. They even have a friendly beast tribe over there. It doesn't have to be rdm/war of the magi related. But more to your point, without having a clear population breakdown of those ancient cities its hard to gauge. Midlander is generally a safe bet when you wanna play with the gray area because those buggers are/were everywhere.

It depends on how it's done. I think some people view it as "taking the easy way out." There's ways to write a very detailed and airtight story that's enjoyable to be a part of and not 100% grind yourself to obvious canon. It just takes far more effort than most people are willing to put in or they're scared what people will say/think etc. There's also just not explaining how your character came in touch with anything or using a painfully convenient McGuffin and now they just "are" very good at said skill because...reasons. I think this is what people get groany at. Luckily with RDM, there is a lot of room to be creative in my opinion. Which I think is tons better than slapping FORBIDDEN or ONLY X'S CAN DO THIS on a job. However, since there is so much space for creativity I think it means people are going to be extra groany if magical long lost tomes keep flying out of the night and smacking random PC's in the head.

I don't know anything about Monks, they didn't interest me. (Gasp) From where I stand, it's a lot more open to creative interpretation. The main questline focuses expressly on Red Boy Tia and his own little circle but it's never expressly said "The Crimson Duelists are the only RDM's." ((Disclaimer: I'm halfway through the line, correct me if need be. )) And tbh even if it did it wouldn't make sense to me because that would mean whatever stash of "Ancient Texts" they found around the time of Theodoric would be the only and last info on Red Magic which would be very hard for me to believe considering it's borderline 'contemporary' if you consider the sheer scope of Eorzea's timelines. Like I have a friend who mains DRK (arguably the tank that got it the worst) and right now I swear most people that play that class are just bottomless holes you burn mana in but he's managed to figure it out and play it just fine so....idk.

Granted I'm still wrapping up but Doma just feels so much more smooth, solid and well done than Ala Mhigo in every capacity. Visually, storytelling, quest design, everything. Ala Mhigo feels like 2.0 questing to me. I wondering if both just had different writers.
