balmung An Old Guard's Return to the Fray
Savarah replied to Kylin's topic in Chronicled Connections
That entire post may as well have been ripped straight from my soul, minor alteration of details aside. I recently created a new character that I've been thinking about for the better part of a year, and have similar availability (standard M-F office job, with responsibilities to certain things here and there on weekday nights). If you ever see a Fyna Rhiannon hanging around in game and wanna start some trouble, 100% feel free to poke! Alternatively, I practically live on discord (Savarah#1873). -
While I have no idea how Sav would actually run into Ophelia, she would be terribly interested in learning about Ishgard and their customs. She's only been to the outskirts of Coerthas once (a friend had to prove to her that snow was a real thing), so Ishgard is completely foreign. Nobility too, really. I've got her wiki down below for a more comprehensive idea of what she's like. If that interests at all, feel free to poke me here on the RPC or in-game!

My understanding is that the largest communities on non Balmung/Gilgamesh worlds seem to be Mateus for the NA crowd and Omega for the EU crowd. There are certainly other servers with budding RP communities (Faerie included), but if you're looking for sheer numbers, those are your best bets.
-
Welcome, adorable new person! I am happy to see you have chosen the Keeper master race~ Echoing that Balmung is unfortunately on lockdown for the forseeable future, Mateus is the NA place to be and Omega is the EU place to be (with smaller communities popping up on other servers, of course). The community is generally pretty helpful, so best of luck to you wherever you end up!

balmung Looking for more connections!
Savarah replied to Aoi Fukiku's topic in Chronicled Connections
If you're looking for a younger Keeper to complete your merry band of friends, I happen to have one! Sav hangs out in the Shroud often, and is a lover of research and aether users (and chocobos, and lots of other things). As someone who also enjoys things on the smaller scale/really likes doing PvE things with people, I am always down for meeting new folk. I have a wiki down below that I've redone relatively recently, and my own connections post is buried somewhere here... I'm usually poking around here when I'm at work or in game EST evenings during the week and all day weekends. Give a poke sometime if Sav sounds like new friend material! -
Newish Player Finallly Settling In on Mateus
Savarah replied to LucatielSoraux's topic in Welcome Desk
Welcome, fellow 25 year old nerd! :moogle: The best and quickest way to meet new folk is to poke them here/in game. Maybe poke your head into a few events that interest you (the good people here are rather diligent in keeping the events list up to date). Mateus is a lively server from what I hear, so don't be shy. Go poke your soon-to-be friends~ -
Preliminary Sav stamp of approval, because yes. :moogle:

Though I don't see any LSs or FCs here on the RPC being advertised on Midgardsormr, that doesn't mean they don't exist! This link is for the Discord of non-Balmung RP. In the same vein, there is also this link that has a running list on non-Balmung/non-Gilgamesh RP FCs/LSs. The above links are in no way mine (they're Maril's!), but they're a great resource.

Echoing what has already been said here...if there's something going on that doesn't quite match with the avatar, it usually comes up in search info. If there's more going on than can be summarized with a few words (damn character limits!) I've had people send me /tells saying as much. What I did come here to contribute was that I know someone who is incredibly skilled and managed to make a Keeper female look older (she's supposed to be the mother of their previous character, who has been shelved due to her story ending). Said 'new' Keeper is supposed to be in her early fifties, and while she doesn't quite look /that/ old, uses some level of glamouring with her mastery over the element of ice to justify her youthful skin and such. Once I'm home, I'll post a screenshot (because lodestone is just not cutting it). EDIT: Screenshots! First is a normal one, second is a close-up. A paler shade of hair than she had in her youth, accented with some greying...all makeup options used, but in a neutral way...use of facial markings/warpaint juuuust a shade different than her skin tone to simulate 'impurities'...subtleties like that.

I'm sharing my hair because rare good photo of me. Excuse lack of makeup.

Returning FFXIV player, need some help getting re-acclimated!
Savarah replied to BubbyDucks's topic in Welcome Desk
Welcome back! 1) Balmung is closed to transfer and character creation indefinitely. Many NA folk have gone to Mateus, and many EU folk have gone to Omega. Those are your two largest communities, though there are definitely smaller RP scenes on other servers. The FC/LS halls here might give you a good idea. 2) Poke around the FC Hall here, see if anything catches your eye. You can also check out the event calendar once you choose a server to meet new people. The party finder on whatever server you choose will likely have advertisement as well. 3) Most FCs have some sort of theme, even if it's as broad as "adventuring". Some are more specific. There's a little of everything. 4) We've got a pretty good lore collection here on the RPC, from people pulling info from multiple locations. There's also the lore forums on the official forums, Encyclopedia Eorzea, and a host of others. (I know I've left some out, those were just the ones that came to mind.) -
Have you poked around the Linkshell Hall/Free Company Hall? There's a bunch around, and all should still be actively recruiting (I think there was an inactivity sweep not too long ago).

balmung Your friendly neighborhood Keeper-cat needs...well, friends!
Savarah replied to Savarah's topic in Chronicled Connections
When you happen to get back in game, send a poke my way! Sav would love to share her attentions, ranging from annoyingly endearing to adorable. -
balmung Your friendly neighborhood Keeper-cat needs...well, friends!
Savarah replied to Savarah's topic in Chronicled Connections
The more the merrier! Sav would be happy to meet all who would tolerate her. :moogle: If you're lucky, she'll be in such a mood that she can hold an introspective and intelligent conversation. If not, all that gets thrown out the window and you'll have an overly excited mooncat that can't shut up. -
balmung Your friendly neighborhood Keeper-cat needs...well, friends!
Savarah replied to Savarah's topic in Chronicled Connections
@Faye Thanks, good to be back! Sav is a pretty plug-and-play type, and can fit with a variety of different personalities, so I'm sure anyone could run into Sav successfully without too much trouble. She's like the endearing little sister you never knew you wanted (or you really don't want, but too bad!) 8-) @Kasi I almost forgot I had a wiki for Sav, lord that's a tad old. But everything in it should be correct as far as events are concerned. Sav hasn't had any other tribal Keepers around in the better part of forever, and she would love to find a kindred spirit. Sav falls back on her Miqo'te master race-ness occasionally, and I'm sure the two would have a ton to talk about. I totally forgot to add in potential hooks and junk in my original post, I should throw that in there. Will edit! -
Hiya! I'm back from an XIV hiatus of over a year, and an RP hiatus of over two. Understandably so, most of my friends/Sav's connections have either jumped servers, fantasia'd, or just plain stopped playing. I miss my Sav terribly, and I'd like to throw her back out into the wide world of Balmung. Short backstory summary Born in the Shroud to a dying lineage, Sav's upbringing was very sheltered. Her father died when she was only a few cycles old, and was raised solely by her mother. She received a basic education that was supplemented by her own reading, finding her passion in arcanima. In her late teens, she decided to leave the forest to receive formal training as an arcanist. She even served a stint as a knight-in-training (though that's a long story for another time). Fast forward to more recent events that led up to her current predicament: Sav was kidnapped and held for months for information she didn't possess. When she finally made her way out of that mess, her mate was gone (presumed dead), she had a falling out with her sister, and is trying to readjust to living a normal life again. Coping with her mate being gone and the fact that she's more or less a failed matriarch has taken its toll. She's a girl with not much left (and I would like to change that!). Personality Sav is normally a very happy-go-lucky girl, and absolutely loves learning new things. As a result of her sheltered childhood, she is rather naive and blunt...often not knowing she's prying or being rude until after the fact. Sav is very much a 'stream of consciousness' character...saying anything that pops into her head (she's working on controlling this, and failing pretty miserably). She is protective of anyone she considers her tribe, and makes fast friends. Since the abduction, Sav has become a bit withdrawn. She has a need to be considered useful so she's not abandoned or forgotten about. She knows that something isn't right, but doesn't quite know how to fix it. What I'm looking for: - Friends! Sav thrives in an smaller group of people she considers 'tribe'. In the absence of her own family, she uses others instead! She will listen without too much judgment, and will even give advice (not always good advice, but interesting advice all the same!). - A mentor/teacher of some sort. This does not mean I'm necessarily looking for a pushes-glasses-up-nose professor...really, almost anyone could fill this role. Someone who could teach her more about arcanima or someone who could just take her on adventures to see new places and do new things. (As an example, once a friend took Sav to Coerthas...she'd never seen snow before. It could be /that/ simple.) What I'm not looking for: - Let's-get-right-down-to-it ERP. Sav's not that kinda girl, and I'm not that kinda writer. I don't want anyone trying to take advantage of her simply because she's eager to please, bright-eyed, and bushy-tailed (ha). Any potential romantic development of any kind would be organic, slow and steady...poor thing is still coming down from her last relationship. -Those who want me/Sav to spend every waking moment with them. I work full time, I raid, and sometimes I coach kids. I'm around most EST nights and weekends, but there's plenty of things to do in game since expansion hit, and I like to do some of them! You should, too. Edit: Potential hooks/locations you might find Sav: -Limsa, either down by the docks or in/around Maelvaan's Gate- Sav studies a /ton/ at the arcanist's guild, and when she's not there, she's often down by the docks. She sleeps there quite a bit, in order to save gil to feed her chocobo. Once or twice a week she'll rent an inn room to be well rested and presentable. -The Shroud- Sav was born here, and still considers it home. When she breaks away from her studies, she returns to the Twelveswood to wander about; maybe even catch a nap in a tree. *Note- If you have some sort of character plot going on that you might be looking for people to join in, I'd be more than happy to throw Sav into it. Her everyday life is rather routine, and I don't have any particular character plot planned for her right now. She will gladly support your leading man/lady in whatever they're up to! Let me know if you're interested in meeting Sav, or if there's something glaring that I left out and you'd like to know! Shooting a /tell in game is probably the best way to go, but of course I'll pop in and out of here at work~

balmung Magic Philosopher male Miqo'te seeking Retainer
Savarah replied to Arashin Kujqai's topic in Chronicled Connections
We talked a bit the other night in game, and after some thought I've decided to throw my hat in the ring. Even if Sav isn't chosen in the retainer capacity, I think she would have quite entertaining interactions with Valic regardless! RP style(s)(such as M, E, Paragraph, etc): I tend to conform to my partner's/group's style, though I've always struggled to write for length (more than a paragraph is a struggle, I'm not a fluffy enough writer). Tend to avoid ERP as it's often unnecessary, but I'm of the never-say-never mindset. Race: Keeper of the Moon Gender: Female Interest(s): Sav likes to makes friends (rebuild her 'tribe') and learn about things that her sheltered life has kept from her. Hobby(ies): Reading, studying, exploring, practicing archery, spending time with her chocobo (she's very attached) Profession(s): Skilled arcanist / minor adventurer (it certainly pays the bills) Personality: Kind, blunt, naive, /very/ interested in learning yet sometimes retracts to a more traditional Keeper mindset, and protective of anyone she deems 'tribe' Goal(s): Sav's goal is to become the matriarch she was always expected to be, even if not necessarily in the traditional way. In memory of her mother and her (former) mate, she truly wants to be the best arcanist/matriarch/person she can possibly be. Background/Story: A young Keeper raised in the depths of the Shroud, Sav has branched out to discover the rest of Eorzea. Her passion is arcanima, and her mid teens led her to leave the only place she'd ever know to learn more. (There's a link below to her sub-standard wiki that explains her background and origins a little more in depth). Personal question: "Something I'd want to ask anyone else too... How do you feel about the idea of being a hired retainer, being beckoned at call(within RP reason of course), and how do you view this as a future for your char in relation to Valic for long term RP as well as fulfilling those goals?" After a series of unfortunate events, Sav finds herself very much alone. By taking side adventuring jobs, she makes just enough gil to feed herself, her chocobo, and occasionally rent an inn room for the night. Her usually bright personality is rather dampened, and a new friend/mentor/anything would certainly put the wind back in her sails. She truly loves to be helpful. (If there's anything I've left out or completely glossed over feel free to poke me.) -
[Spoilers] Dark Knights, Am I the Only One?
Savarah replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in RP Discussion
This may have been mentioned by someone prior (there's a bunch on this topic, and I'm glad to see that), but I took the DRK skillset and armor and what have you, replaced the edgy darkness with elements instead. Now I know many people won't like that, and might consider it lore-breaking, but it's not like my character runs around casting fireballs at people with her greatsword. It works very well with her narrative, and she rarely reveals anything elemental to anyone. He clan knows about it, and that's pretty much it. -
Qarah Qerel, at your service. Tiger killer extraordinaire. =P Though as a note, any newer Qerel tribe members may not know Qarah due to her family settling down during her grandparents' generation.

Au Ra naming conventions delayed + Aesthetician limbal ring adjustment
Savarah replied to allgivenover's topic in FFXIV News
As each day passed and still no news of naming conventions, I had a feeling they would be delayed. And while I'm in complete agreement that Heavensward translation takes first priority over practically any other translation, it does make my heart hurt as I (and many others) have been waiting so patiently for so long. Here's to hoping we get them before launch. -
As someone who's (probably) making the switch to Xaela, she'll be amused by the reactions to her, considering she's been back and forth from Eorzea to Othard multiple times over the past few years. About time she can let her hood down and un-tape her tail from her blasted leg.
-
Savarah is probably a fairly solid 4 (with the mentality of a 2). She a pretty good aether user with a strong command over her spells, with years of study under her belt. She can hold her own in any one-on-one, even coming out on top with a fair bit of effort. Currently unnamed Xaela? Probably gonna sit around a 2.5, becoming a 2 under extreme circumstances. She comes from a martial family of status, and has trained as a swordswoman literally since she could walk. She takes combat very seriously, and is probably one of the best around.

balmung Foxglove Kyo: Tortured Antiheroine
Savarah replied to Gone.'s topic in Chronicled Connections
Note: Sav senses are tingling! Granted Sav isn't fabulous and new, BUT totally has a helper complex. And kinda was tortured herself for a year, likes people, etc. She may be the terribly persistent adorable fly that won't leave you alone. This oozes possibilities. (so much fanclub right now~) -
Bands you think you only listen to
Savarah replied to ChewableMorphine's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Had to show my love and support for a fellow TBM listener. The lyrics and video to 'Blue' get me every time.
