Dat Oni Posted February 14, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2015 No one is perfect. All of us are subject to temptation. In the grand scheme of things, one might say we are puppets on a string, dancing for cruel gods that like to watch us suffer, and the suffering we bring to others. For all the good we do, in the grand book of life each of us carry, at least one page carries a blot, a stain upon its paper, and we can never cleanse it. So tell me, fellow roleplayers, what are the inkblots in your character's book of life? What terrible (or not so terrible) thing pervades their existence? What unforgettable, unforgivable sin bastardizes their soul? Okay, enough waxing poetic. Basically, does your character have something in their past that they did that was totally or even partly wrong, and how do they deal with it? What terrible acts have they committed that they wish to forget? Let me be frank in the commencement; rape, murder, torture, and other unpleasantness are not to be censored. I'm asking you to be blunt, so if someone comes in here and is appalled that yes, someone would put that in their roleplay arc, I ask that that person vacate the thread as opposed to sitting here and ranting about it. So, let us begin! And administration, please keep an eye on this thread, as you have my other ones. I appreciate it. Link to comment
WhiteLycanXII Posted February 14, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 14, 2015 Murder. Also arson. Vandalism, threatening the peace, assault, bribery, extortion, theft, and jaywalking. And drinking. Link to comment
Titor Posted February 14, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 14, 2015 Almost defecting to Garlemald when he was their prisoner and being tortured. He was not able to last much longer, luckily he was rescued. No one knows how close he came. NO ONE Link to comment
Erik Mynhier Posted February 14, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 14, 2015 Erik has been a the game for a long time, and has done many bad things. So much that he, very privately, that when he dies, no matter how much good he does, he is damned for the life he has lead. If you want a list,.... He's tortured.... alot. Lied, killed (justifiably) and murdered. He is not above trickery where needed, and will use whatever advantage available to complete his mission. But that is all something he keeps to himself. There is only one person that knows how deep the hole is, and its not Clio. Link to comment
Kinono Posted February 14, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 14, 2015 Casually requesting a "attempted repression" option. But yeah. Murder and drinking. And though it's not really a sin, she feels guilty about having falling in love and gotten intimate a couple times much too quickly earlier in her life. Link to comment

Shas Posted February 14, 2015 Share #9 Posted February 14, 2015 A couple for Shas that one or two might know about IC. Assassination (murder of specific Garleans), torture of the same Garleans. Leaving the Sultanswarn and leaving her daughter with her father after the Calamity, and being somewhat of womanizer... Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted February 14, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 14, 2015 Sins against Garlemald aren't really sins, per se... Link to comment
Magellan Posted February 14, 2015 Share #12 Posted February 14, 2015 Murder seems to be the new black. I had a character bake a positvely sinful triple chocolate raspberry cake once. 1 Link to comment
Val Posted February 14, 2015 Share #13 Posted February 14, 2015 Val has killed people. He doesn't feel the slightest bothered by it. In fact, it's how he feels one should deal with problems. If they're a big enough issue, get rid of them. He won't kill a person that bumps into him, but he doesn't rule it out as an option if someone is attempting to harm him or someone he holds dear. He's also pretty promiscuous and has had a lot of unwed intercourse and all that, convinced wives/girlfriends to cheat on their spouses/significant others, etc. Melfice, on the other hand, has also murdered. He isn't bothered by it, but he feels differently than Val. Val feels as if their deaths are justified because they tried to slight him. Melfice feels their deaths are justified because they are lesser beings than him, and most of the time their deaths were for some purpose beyond their otherwise mundane existence (For science!). He's experimented on people, left them disfigured and deformed, and toyed with others simply to gauge what reaction it may have on their lives--including those he supposedly loves. He has also raped someone before, and while he likes to pretend to be apologetic about it, he's really not. It was a means to an end, and a way to teach someone a lesson the only way he knew how they'd listen. Cyrus.. his ideal of a sin is looking at a woman's cleavage. He's far too nice. He doesn't steal, doesn't say "bad" words, and tries to keep himself sin-free. Vallois has also murdered, but unlike Val or Melfice, he does so because he was paid for it. He's a mercenary, and if someone requires being killed, he'll do it so long as the pay is decent enough. Link to comment
cuideag Posted February 14, 2015 Share #14 Posted February 14, 2015 Jajara is guilty of adultery and... tax evasion? OOPS. Delial... has a long list! Murder, thievery, kidnapping, torture, assault, bribery, a brief stint with slavers, and a small helping of arson. No smuggling, though! Smuggling's for weenies. Link to comment

Delilah Scythewood Posted February 14, 2015 Share #17 Posted February 14, 2015 Lili: Murder. Has helped performed illegal and dangerous rituals for others. Forgery. Theft. Accomplice to various crimes. Harboring a criminal on more then one occasion. Bought illegal substances, herbs, and other items to make potions and tonics to help cure her daughters. Plagiarized. Xelra: Chopped off the legs of the people who held her in slavery for years. Used to be a pickpocket and thief. My others I haven't thought on it much yet. Link to comment
Alothia Posted February 14, 2015 Share #18 Posted February 14, 2015 In her youth, she was guilty of many things: Arranging murders Standing by during other crimes Theft Extortion Cheating Murder As an adult, she's been guilty of Murder. Most of what she's done as an adult has been to try to make up for the crimes of her youth. She enjoyed all of those things when she was younger, so remembering that feeling puts her into a pretty bad place. Link to comment
Cliodhna Eoghan Posted February 14, 2015 Share #19 Posted February 14, 2015 Pretty much an echo of the general lists i've been seeing above (torture, murder, theft, overall destruction of property, lying, *insert more spy/military expected stuff*) i will say there are some slight particulars to the two "heavier" ones; clio has killed a lot of people and maimed/tortured more. Though she does not count that as a sin....honestly, it gives her a sadistic thrill. she's better about controlling it to ensure she doesn't go past "what's necessary" but the feelings are still there. There's only a handful of things she's regret in her life, but one of her most prominent ones was not being the one to kill someone specific from her past. Link to comment
Faye Posted February 14, 2015 Share #20 Posted February 14, 2015 For Faye, there's murder (primarily self-defense, though), attempted murder, threats of violence, lies, marginally consensual adultery, treason, assault, accomplice to some taboo things like summoning Primals and tampering with the Void, purchasing slaves (to immediately free them but whatevs), blackmail and extortion, and probably some others I can't recall. Weeee! \o/ All for the greater good! Unmei's only sins are probably just tampering with necromancy and resurrection, lying to protect others, and inadvertently creating a painful love triangle (she feels really bad about the love triangle, though!). She feels pretty guilty anytime she does anything slightly "bad," though, which is already rare, and she usually apologizes almost immediately (with lots of crying). Shade is a bucket full of sin. Assault, sexual assault, rape, manslaughter, suicide attempts, promiscuity, tampering with the Void, lots of sex out of wedlock, prostitution, tearing apart relationships and families, adultery, purposely breaking hearts, lying, and being a mostly willing accomplice to all sorts of even worse things. She says she doesn't feel bad about it, but she really does. Link to comment

Sophia_Grave Posted February 14, 2015 Share #22 Posted February 14, 2015 Lots. She would be a career criminal, but she does it for the flag, not her pocket. Crimes include murder, terrorism, kidnapping, torture, arson, destruction of property, impersonation, and sowing discord Its both a point of pride and regret for her. She recognizes she is very skilled at this sort of thing and even enjoys it to a degree (although she'd never admit it). On the other hand, she'd like to be a 'better' person and generally admires good people, but feels that its personally difficult to contribute in a meaningful way by going through proper channels. Aysun Posted February 14, 2015 Share #23 Posted February 14, 2015 Murders (though she'd call them justified - which kind of makes it worse because they really aren't). Prostitution (though that doesn't seem to be much of a sin in Eorzea sometimes). Theft (out of necessity, sorta). And daaamn gurl can be a hypocrite/liar. Link to comment
Y'lani Posted February 14, 2015 Share #24 Posted February 14, 2015 Y'lani hasn't committed many sins, but what she has done, she views with more of a defeatist attitude. As a whole, she sees the past as a time when she was weak, and believes that now that she is stronger she cannot afford to break the laws of the divine. The laws of men? That's something different. Sins she has committed: Murder Thievery Smuggling Except she doesn't regret most of that. What she would see as a sin would be not holding a silent overnight vigil for a friend, not honoring Azeyma, wearing the bones of a creature she has not slain herself, boasting lies, etc. etc. If it's for the greater good, it's not a sin, and what most men see as sin is not her sin to repent. - y'lani's thoughts, not mine. Melkire Posted February 14, 2015 Share #25 Posted February 14, 2015 Osric had sixty-odd individuals under his knife over the course of his six-year-long career as a hitman-for-hire, back before he was forced to flee Limsa. Not all of those individuals had hits taken out on them. In addition to murder, there's been manslaughter, torture, assault, battery, extortion, theft (both robbery and burglary), breaking and entering, trespassing, arson, and kidnapping, to list a few crimes. There's a reason he used to be known as "Problemsolver". Link to comment
