  1. Banned for being on the RPC whilst RPing! .. Oh wait.
  2. I'm going to say a guild that I was in before I even started Rping. I believe it was called Arachnoid or so, on Aggramar EU in WoW. They took me in after my now-ex stopped having the go for leading his own raid guild, and let me raid with them. It was a very nice guild, I don't remember there being much drama and everyone just looked out for one another. The raiding conditions were the perfect mix between casual chatter and focus, the moment a boss was pulled everyone's attention shifted in an instant. It was impressive to be a part of, and I honed some of my first english skills with them voice-wise. I still remember some of the super tense situations and can recall my raidleader shouting at me cause I was the only one left alive in one encounter Sadly I lost track of them after I moved servers and started to RP and as far as I know they disbanded some years later. I'm not sure I'd have kept at MMORPG's if it wasn't for their awesome guild, since community and friends is a large part of what kept me going then, similarly how RP is the glue for me these days. I've been a GM for the past four years in several games and, whilst I love my Kindred and Clandestines to bits, I figured I'd pick one from before I became a gm.
  3. Banned for thinking I can get to 50 before i'm 50 Banned for skipping Bri in the banning chain. Banned because bri still has been skipped Banned because I said! Banned for not having your characters name in the avatar box D:
  4. Banned for looking away on your avatar. Stop hiding that pretty face!
  5. So, I had one of these Monday's today, and it made me think. What sort of just purely unfortunate stuff goes and happens to our characters? Do they ever walk all the way down the stables only to realize they forgot the keys to their chocobo? For Nailah, I could easily imagine something like getting out of bed a little too late, proceeding to be a little too sober for life's tasks which then contributes to a day at the markets in Ul'dah where pickpockets get their way with some of her precious coin and then upon her returning she finds that Velhi has been knocking out innocent girls at the quicksand again which sparks a minor diplomatic crisis. She tends to be plagued some by bad luck and bad timing. How would a really unfortunate day look for your characters?

  9. Banned because I got startled by summertime happening which made me swing the ban-hammer.
  10. Banned for being way, way too hot. It's illegal to rival the sun you know!
  11. When it comes to random people, I think walking away is one of the most powerful tools. Most situations can be excused, and for what it's worth I tend to try and make it look like I'm not leaving for any other reasons than having to be somewhere else. I usually apply that so any minor situation, if someone is being a nudge too creepy or so. And by creepy I don't mean IC-creepy, but in a sort of bleedy way. This may also happen if the person is breaking the lore (and telling my character) in a way that my character can't possibly acknowledge because doing so would take my character away from the understanding of the lore that I am comfortable with. In situations where I don't leave, it's usually because I've contacted the player and asked if I can pretend they didn't hear that or similar, explaining how I am about the lore. In 9/10 cases I get positive responses to that, I quite like it when people can work together to overcome their differences. When it comes to more serious problems, like metagaming and power-emoting and suchlike, my strategy is still to withdraw from the situation - but I would always be communicating with the other side to try and resolve the problems. Especially when it's powergaming it can feel a bit abrupt to just leave. I don't tend to leave instantly either, but when I am sufficiently convinced it's not just a slip-up I will. If the other side becomes agitated by my inquiry then it'll most likely end in a walk away & retcon of the nights events with that person if they do not calm down. I find that once you question certain things, some people get angry ry the way instead of seeing it as a simple request for elaboration on the characters actions. It's extremely rare that I would let a situation I'm not comfortable with persist to be uncomfortable and just go unresolved. Fortunately I meet mostly level headed and cool-minded people in this game
  12. I am going to try my very best to be there this time, and thanks to the time I very much think it'll be possible

  14. My character Thala'to was actually created to be sort of a sidekick to a player's character back in the day. They share some background work and have some similar traits, and have been through a lot of interesting turmoil since. I got inspired when I saw the character being played the first time and asked if it would be alright to make an alt for it. He's now my most played alt and I am really loving his personality and mannerisms, so I am really happy it came to be
  15. I have posted in a few where it has not resulted to anything, but I mostly put that down to my timezone. It can be hard to tell when people are available when they don't note what timezone they're in. Usually if someone mention they're usually on when I'm sleeping I wouldn't reply. I must admit I also don't follow up on them so much, if I see them about when I am about randomly in a place then I'd approach if possible but, otherwise I've left it at that. I guess I've always seen it as being on the part of the one who requests to follow up if they're interested, and then I also just can't always remember to do it because I have the attention-span of a ferret most of the time.
  16. Cheers for giving Thala'to a flyer (even though he can't read). I'll see about being there & signing up when we get a bit closer.
  17. Why do things need to get better? What is the problem that is preventing things from getting better, and what does better look like? What is the evidence of this problem? I did touch on some of the potential problems and worst-case scenarios from doing nothing in my post. I'm not saying that things are bad - Because they're not. I'm more trying to highlight that whilst a summit like this could lead to conditions worsening/drama, so could not doing anything. Again, one of the things I hope to see is people finding the courage to run larger events who have not before, as simply leaving this responsibility to the "usual" people who do it (Not saying that new ones don't ever sprout up on their own either.) may result in burnouts and a dip in larger events. I quite enjoy large events, so I would see that as something negative. Of other things, this provides a chance for FC Leads/Officers that do not frequent the RPC to partake and get acquainted with people, it gives new FC's an opportunity to show up and mark their presence - Things that might not happen of natural ways. I know from my own experience with KinRP that it can be very hard to find anyone to work with towards something when you don't really know anyone. I feel like we need to pay attention to the fact that there's a balance to keep between doing too much and doing too little - It would not be right to say things haven't changed since housing got introduced, and I'm all in favor for nipping things in the bud before it becomes a bigger issue that is subsequently harder to deal with. FC leads and their officers can do a bunch of things that can have a bunch of positive effects on the community - But those positive effects do not involve developing a mind-controlling technique wherein we force everyone to accept Pastel Pink as the one true color. Would like to highlight that I am also not talking in definitely's, I don't know how things will go in the end. I could be totally wrong. We'll see ^^ Also as a side-note to Zhavi: I've been passing on the knowledge to a few fc's that I know don't frequent the RPC so far, and one of them has signed up ^^ I don't know if anyone else has been doing something like that, but it does sound like a good idea to try and get it out to others.
  18. I think the main point is that we've got to try. There's always going to be cliques and popularity contests in RP communities, just as much as there's always going to be drama in roleplay. I was and I still am skeptic when I signed up for this - I don't consider myself to be much of an anyone around here and you're absolutely right, it could just devolve into a continued circlejerk between a specific group of friends where no one else really gets to say anything (or gets heard). However I don't think that it would get too far in this community, just as much as there are cliques there's also people who don't particularly give any bothers about the cliques and at the end of the day, you can only influence the people who want to be influenced. I was in some community styled leadership meetings in GW2 a /long/ time ago (like, around the start) and to give an example, claim issues were one of the hot topics we were debating but could not solve because we did not have complete participation. Specifically, the guilds that when out and aggressively claimed buildings/places didn't show up to these meetings and didn't want to listen to the talk about how you can't just declare no one else can RP in a place you've decided is your characters house/secret base/experimental genetics lab. So the situations was, to my knowledge at least, never really solved. Community is unfortunately the key to a lot of things when it comes to RP, I've always said that proper communication could solve at least half of the conflicts that arise between people (especially in fight-related drama) and honestly I'd be far more concerned if no one was interested in talking to each other because they already have their stuff, their FC and their social circle. The sort of everything is fine for me so why should I think about the rest of the community line of thinking. The reason why I use the word unfortunately, is because it can be very difficult to communicate with people or groups for various reasons. Which is also why I am hoping that as many people who are interested will watch the stream of the meeting. So it wont just be the ones attending who's getting a clear image of what is going on. My biggest hope for all of this is that we get to make even more good events and, maybe even get some people on the floor that haven't done serverwide stuff before but with the aid/support of other FC's could feel confident enough to do one. It's both a frightening and a daunting task to run larger events that are open to everyone and their grandmother, and the community as a whole can't keep relying on the same people to keep on making them, as that'll just result in burnouts. If we don't try something nothing will get better, and then it could still get worse over time.
