  1. These date back at the Full Moon Gala in 2013 (Was really hoping that event would return this year...! Oh well). Jet'a was still keeping a cloak to hide from the sellswords sent after him by his former master. One of those sellswords actually found him at the Gala, but it was nothing that Still Nightshade, the mercenary Jet'a hired at his own protection, couldn't handle. I'll post pictures of Still Nightshade at a later time <_< The player who RPs her and I decided to retcon her being a ninja (she was a gladiator with dagger and no shield back then, and daggers were taken out of GLD), so as of now she has no IC class.
  2. I favor slow character development, as well as keeping interactions with the world around me realistic (such as travel taking a long time, not running around much, and not moving to an area with a different climate unprepared). My RP is mostly storyline-based... my friends and I use the main scenario as a sort of "railroad" to our characters' stories, around which our personal plots occur. Regarding events, I am very shy, and worse than anything, very prude (and I mean it. Even seeing someone emoting kissing someone on the cheek or hugging or an unnecessarily detailed way to hold hands makes me want to run away to a different zone), so while I do my best to attend big events.. I have difficulties finding ones that wouldn't put me before unpleasant displays. Again, I try to keep it realistic: much as I look away from people getting kissy in the streets or change TV channel when a movie's characters get physical, so do I move away from events that may present chatlog text that will make me uncomfortable.
  3. I'd dump him, too. Who needs an IRL partner when you've got a MMO subscription anyways?
  4. Tales of Hydaelyn celebrating the end of summer last year... X'elo's concert in Ul'dah triggered interesting reactions back then, including a girl stopping by throw him underwear. Kujh'a and Luc'a Chiara and Whisper Silke and Blue X'elo, Blue, Silke and Shadow Shadow and X'elo!
  5. This dates back to August/September 2013, my first actual RP screenshot! My friend and I were actually roleplaying a "flashback", supposed to have occurred not too long after the Calamity: Jet'a, refuged at the Church of Saint Adama Landama, is for the first time approached by the mysterious Gardener, a red-haired woman with a rather unique behavior when it comes to flowers. Though, I remember back that day, I had primarily taken the screenshot because the chocobos staring at each other amused me. <_<
  6. A wolf in sheep's clothing? The corrupt wearing the pure. The tainted dressed in the untainted. Wolf in sheep's clothing works, too. Hey, then again so did Kuja in FFIX and many other villains (The villains in Lady Hawk and Dragonheart come to mind). It's my favorite type of villain attire!
  7. Yeah, that's why I didn't even see it when I made a search on the official forum to make sure I wasn't making a copy of a thread ... I never include "Website Feedback" in my searches... But I've still bumped that thread as well for support, thanks everyone for supporting the one I made as well!
  8. Generic pretty shots of game places that I've been using as my desktop background. (For some reason when I look at this house it resembles a shocked man with a weird moustache.) (I don't remember who this Miqo'te is.)
  9. EDIT: I did make this thread in the past to promote a personal thread I had made on the Official Forums in the past, but now I think (also thanks to Ilwe'ran for inspiring me), why not make this a thread for EVERYONE to promote their threads? Simply put: If you have any cool idea to help roleplaying in general and have made a thread on the Official Forums for the Developers to check out, post a link here, so that all the roleplayers in the Coalition can check it out and support you! Comments, bumps, Likes, and everything we can do to make the Devs hear the voice of the Roleplaying community! I'll start with my threads, please don't be afraid to necro-bump them! An Industrial Revolution-themed Expansion! Suggestion for a future expansion! Yugiri's hood for Au Ras! Small glamour request for Au Ra - Yugiri's Hood Housing Issue on Balmung: New Housing Wards for Balmung, please! Head-Turn Display on screen: Please give us the option to let other players see our head turn. Screenshots potential: The Unending Journey is missing so many cutscenes! Monsters horns breaking etc. / Spearfishing from 1.0: It would be cool to see this feature return! An underground city?! The Duskwight's Home? Find Roleplayers through Search! An "IC/RP" status would be nice to have! More average clothes! Town Gear Wishlist! Inventory Woes This issue just occurred to me about the new class (and future classes)... I can't be /annoyed for longer than 10 seconds?! What is the reason behind Facial Expression emotes not being Persistent? Mounts seem heartless robots (sorry Magitek Armor!). Idle Animations for Mounts (like the Companions): Do you see it possible? /changepose galore! Another wish-list thread: /changepose stances! I want to sit my butt on the floor! Miqo'te Men and Highlander Women of Eorzea Unite! Let us /sit on the floor!! A traveling bag, can I has!? Suggestion/Request/Pipe Dream - Where's my backpack!? Companions always go poof at the worst time (when I RP with them out!)... Small suggestion for Chocobo Companions! Wow.. okay, didn't realize what a demanding bitch I have been this year. Oh well, please support any idea you like, and do it on the official forums rather than here! Post links to your own threads if you think they'd make RP better!
  10. Deleted after some afterthought.
  11. Valeria's reasons to be in the Maelstrom are not as pristine as one may think...
  12. Back when I had an Italian RP LS, I was having a lot of fun RPing the pragmatic, sophisticated professor. I like using big words for saying even the simplest things and cause many awkward moments with those who do not understand me. Unfortunately, as I switched to an English community, I had to come to terms with my inferior knowledge of the English language compared to my mother language. I don't think my whole life will be ever enough to learn to speak English as sophisticatedly as I'm able with Italian. :frustrated: I have found relief in RPing an averagely cultured Jerk with a Heart of Gold trope back in FFXI (my first English RP experience). Though completely different than my Italian role, it was very fun and is now my favorite stereotype. I'm the type that likes to experiment, so in XIV I relegated JwaHoG to an alt so that I could test new stereotypes on my main characters. It's being interesting, but I'll admit that alt stays my favorite.
  13. Jet'a Vann / Clive Stark / Kujh'a Lihzeh Three of my characters have a very poor view of Seekers of the Sun women. The Seeker's society structure (all females mating with the same male in the tribe), puts to the eyes of my characters male Seekers of the Sun as men with no personal attachment for a partner, and female Seekers as something close to whores. That, combined with the fact that all of them were hit on / or saw others get hit on by females of the Seeker clan, has resulted in my characters beginning to use "Son of a Seeker" as an insult. Dylise Rontremont Instead, Dylise, as a Duskwight woman, has the stereotypical grudge against the Green. While there are NPCs who still express discrimination towards the Grey (some in front of the Lancer's guild comes to mind), I was rather sad to see no one of the Elezen RPers I've interacted with seems to keep this bit of the lore into account. Don't be so nice to Dylise, you Wildwoods! Kujh'a Lihzeh Kujh has an angst/terror for females of the Keeper clan that is borderline psychotic. Grown in a society that taught him of how females are superior to him, and having broke the boundaries with that society and become a fighter himself (his Keeper family is very strict and did not allow males to be raised as combatants), he has set his own goal to prove that he can be a better hunter than any Keeper woman out there. He refuses to admit to be unable to do anything a female Keeper could do (including birthgiving!?), and in trying to prove so he has already gotten a lot into trouble, as Kiht Jakkya well knows. At the same time, while he feels competitive with these women, he is also terrified of them, feeling they are psychopaths that will cut his throat at any given time for daring step on their society role's holy ground.
  14. Very interesting read. This brings me back to something that always kind of disappointed me about sexy roleplay: why does it seem impossible to RP a fail-casanova? For one of my alts I had in mind to RP a sort of flirtatious jerk. The type who avoids commitment and prefers one-night adventures with the ladies, while keeping a rather male chauvinist demeanor with ladies, with kinds of rude and dirty jokes. In his background I had decided that his cold and rude attitude often made him hopeless at getting ladies on his side, and that he'd have to often resort to prostitutes. However I was rather baffled to see that no matter how rude, jerky and overall asshole-ry my character would be, he was never refused by anyone I'd ICly hit on; more often than not, I was the one being hit on, even. I do am opposed to scripting other roleplayers' reactions to my character ("be scared" "be shocked" "be offended"), but I have been trying in every possible way to push the right buttons to get rejected by other roleplayers (because I OOCly do NOT want to ERP, nor get physical really. I am far too shy for that), with all the opposite results. I ended up having to find an IC excuse and walk away before things would get to a point I couldn't bear. I've eventually abandoned open RP with this character, and now use him only with close OOC friends that know my limits. There is just no joy in playing with fire if you always get scorched after all. But it really is puzzling how in so many months that I have been trying to RP him in the open world, I couldn't find one roleplayer that would reject my character. Does anybody else RP a fail-casanova? If you do, how do you handle it?
  15. I haven't really a clue of how an host club works, but I'd be interested if I could attend with one or two friends and not be separated. Our group is about to embark a very difficult task and they could use a party to celebrate/bond together after an hard journey. Is it imperative that they get a host or could they just come and sit at a table together to enjoy the atmosphere?
  16. 8 characters here (and gonna have to kill one to make room for a New Race alt eventually..) :dodgy:... /altitishighfive!
  17. I think the main unwritten rule on roleplaying jobs is the same of roleplaying the main scenario: you can do it, just don't brag about it. I am a black mage IC, and plan on each of my other characters to eventually unlock and RP their respective jobs. And Twelve know how many will want to RP Ninja soon. Just do it but don't bring it up in chat, and let those you're RPing with decide by themselves if they want to see you as a job RPer or a class RPer. I have not been calling myself a BLM, but used terms such as "I've been practicing the dark arts for many cycles now." or "I exploit thaumaturgy, and the power of black magic within." etc., and surprisingly enough had people call me a Black Mage themselves. I also have a Lancer alt who is simply obsessed with becoming a Dragoon (he isn't one yet). He's still all too green to down a dragon himself (or even... find one.), but whenever he has expressed his burning desire to become one, I've never received an hairy eye OOC, only very skeptical IC comments due to his awful low experience .
  18. Right, but here we're talking about a content that after 2.4's wards doubling will cover around 2% of the playerbase. (Not to mention there are already people who own multiple personal houses only to have more gardening plots and do not even use the houses themselves. It's hopefully rare, but I've already seen a couple people confessing it in the official forums).
  19. I believe it's not even a matter of demand, as more of a matter of expectations being failed. A few times in a row, Square Enix has released content that was promised to be very fun and elaborated, only to give instead very cheap versions of what they sounded like their content would be: - Chocobo raising: They ended up not releasing an actual "raising chocobos" feature, but instead only "chocobo training", where you give an adult chocobo some exp through a cutscene and a lot of gil sink. When you hear "raising", you think breeding, you think chocobo eggs, hatchlings and mini-games. Even FFXI's version ended up being superior to what we got. - Chocobo colouring: Since we can't breed chocobos, an FFVII/FFXI style of chocobo coloring is out of question. To have access to all dyes is great, but the RNG system and -again- huge gil sink around it demoralized a lot of players. On top of disappointing cake is the fact that it's restricted to players who actually have Housing. - Housing: I'm sure I don't have to explain where the disappointment with housing is. What made it worse was Yoshida's statement (to the request of instanced personal housing), that there wouldn't be enough servers to make those instances. Yet, an FC house can instance over 500 rooms. I believe some lack of thought was had here. Overall, the community is disappointed of how Yoshida seems to be stepping away from the community more and more. Let's not forget that A Realm Reborn is game that was created thanks to this very community's feedback and requests. Nothing better that you pay to be given what you actually want, no? All in all, I have now very little faith in SE's possibilities, and am expecting Gold Saucer to be yet another big disappointment, but we'll see I guess. I would have preferred them to take more time and not release personal housing yet to instead make something that could actually be available to everyone. And Twelve know if they do need time, considering that in nine months all they did was add a "Buy As Personal Estate" button on the Welcome Placard.
  20. Hello, For obvious reasons of how the main scenario treats the individual adventurer as a single hero, the majority of the RP community prefers to shy away from RPing the actual story of the game (in poor words, "better to have no one be a special hero rather than having someone who can claim to be one, and thus putting him/herself at a higher level to the look of other roleplayers"). However, there are people who still would like to RP the game's story, and that is what our RP LS, Tales of Hydaelyn, was made for. We are a RP group who once a week (used to be twice a week, but now it's school/work time for a lot of us) has an RP session of the main scenario. In order to respect the wishes of those who disagree with roleplaying the story, we RP any Main Scenario-related events in linkshell channel, rather than /say (out of sight, out of mind), and most importantly we do not RP as being the only characters who were/will be involved in the main scenario. To better explain this, our characters are convinced that somewhere else in Eorzea there are other people who received the Crystal Call, just like they did (In fact, in the cutscene that displays the Crystal Call, you do see other unknown adventurers flying around the Crystal with you). This is again a choice to not make our characters unique and special, and to give everyone the opportunity to claim to have done the same things we did IC. Currently our group is on the lv19 Main Scenario missions, and we are about to face Ifrit. ICly we have just recently joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, so it's a very good moment to join. One could simply claim to be a member of the Scions sent by Minfilia to take part to the investigation. We would love to have you. Please look at our section in the Linkshell Hall, and if you feel like learning more, you can read our rules on our own guildwork site. We currently have seven members, some of which roleplay multiple characters. At least four of us have a 100% attendance to the RP sessions. Hope you give us a try! ^^
  21. Already have an idea of what Shiva's battle music could be... EX version would have a Diamondust AoE every time "Let It Go" is pronounced.
  22. I'm honestly disappointed with /hug and /slap not having a confirm prompt for the target of the emote. Both IC and OOC, I am not fond of physical contact, be it real or virtual. I logged in and first thing that happened was a random stranger running to me and first slapping then hugging my character. It was really annoying that I could do nothing but let him do it ... Interactive emotes should have a confirmation prompt much like Trade does, but that's how I see it at least. Thankfully, 90% of roleplayers are kind enough to send me tells and ask me if they can perform certain physical actions on my character, and when that happens I'm usually good to go along with it. But when it's random and uncalled for, meh...
  23. Our LS's RP sessions are currently taking place in Camp Drybone, as we investigate on the recent kidnappings of many refugees and Amalj'aa activity. Maybe we'll see you around!
  24. Finally my FC got a small plot in the Mist! It took us a long time and effort but we've made it. The Althaea's Orphanage is currently under construction. It's a small plot, but my few FC mates and I are working on rising some alts to lv50 in order to use personal rooms to make extra structures to the Orphanage, such as: - Eatery - Dorms - Bathroom - Library/Study Room Looking forward to hosting some orphans when all the rooms are set and operative (Will be a while, we're not rich )! If you ever wish to get a preview of the ongoing construction, we're in the Mist (Ward 7, Plot 17).
