Erik Mynhier Posted May 11, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2015 So we are all paying good money for this expansion. And rightfully so we want to play with the new and shiny things there in. As such many rpers are gearing up to rp in this brave new land. But how? Some of our characters have a built in reason to go but many don't have a reason. Reason or no we wanna go right? I know I wanna go ooc, and sure Erik has a few reasons possible but im sort of waiting to see how things roll out myself before moving forward. So what are the ic reasons for your character to explore the north? Have you painstakingly planned out your rp path? Or are you just going whereever the wind may take you? Link to comment
Ciel Posted May 11, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2015 Pretty much a wait and see thing for me. I don't know yet just how involved Ciel will be in stuff in and around Ishgard canon, and she'll probably have her hands full with other things including looking for certain people who may or may not have disappeared. Virella Posted May 11, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2015 Being an Ishgardian elezen. He he he. Easy wasn't it? That said my mooncatte will be heading up north due his wandering ways, and the offerings of gil to the adventurers by Ishgardian nobles will be tempting him next to that. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted May 11, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2015 Right now I've got no intentions on moving Warren to Ishgard. Doesn't make sense, but we'll see. Link to comment
Altitis Acquired Posted May 11, 2015 Share #5 Posted May 11, 2015 "Oh look, a door has opened that wasn't open before. I wonder what is on the other si-HOLY MOTHER MENPHINA! A WHOLE NEW WOOOOOOORLD! A NEW FANTASTIC POINT OF VIE-Ouwwie! Why are you poking me? Yes, I was singing, so what? Anyways, let's check this place out..." ... Basically this. Link to comment
Manari Posted May 11, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 11, 2015 I don't usually RP out the main story. You really can't when it has your character being the one true hero who is destined to save the realm time and time again. So regardless of what is happening in the main storyline or where the new expansions go, it doesn't really have any impact on my RP. As such, I wasn't really planning on going to Ishgard at all. If a good IC reason comes along, then I would, but I don't really see that happening. Link to comment
Jessika Saphir Posted May 11, 2015 Share #7 Posted May 11, 2015 Being an Ishgardian elezen. He he he. Easy wasn't it? I'm in the same boat. Though Jess's homecoming is more for...revenge, of sorts, and less a desire to actually visit Ishgard, lol Link to comment
Hyakki Posted May 11, 2015 Share #8 Posted May 11, 2015 Mamushi married an Ishgardian fugitive that still wants to fight for his homeland. She goes where he goes (to make sure he doesn't get executed or stomped by another dragon). Link to comment
Aaron Posted May 11, 2015 Share #9 Posted May 11, 2015 Once Aaron starts seeing people with large ass foreign greatswords and guns you'd bet your ass he's going to Ishgard. OHHHH THIS JUST REMINDED ME OF SOMETHING. INTERESTING NEW THREAD TIME! Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted May 11, 2015 Share #10 Posted May 11, 2015 Only one of my characters has ties to Ishgard via his mentor, and since he didn't wind up dying at the Steps, Tahz isn't going to go full-on vengeance mode against the horde. He may be likely to poke his lance in and help out from time to time, but he's still aware he's very much got a death mark there. Link to comment
ZoktaiKhor Posted May 11, 2015 Share #11 Posted May 11, 2015 My Guild is one where we go on misadventures based around our little WoL. Where she goes we go to support her. Plus If Zach cna take his merchnatry to the skies MORE INCOME! Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted May 11, 2015 Share #12 Posted May 11, 2015 If Ishgard's open for business, someone will want to carry goods up there and back. And not have these goods be attacked by bandits, dravinians or other ne'er-do-wells. Perhaps the person who's package Kellach is carrying lies beyond the Steps of Judgement. Link to comment
Cynel1 Posted May 11, 2015 Share #13 Posted May 11, 2015 Cyneler is going there to on a Diplomatic mission from the Flames. he see this as a excuse to get away from Ul'dah for a while With Raubahn in Gaol and her Grace Suddenly "I'll" he will be a bit Depressed. Link to comment
Cliodhna Eoghan Posted May 11, 2015 Share #14 Posted May 11, 2015 as with her being flame; clio is basically going if erik goes. (that and to help keep him alive if he does go >.> ) if it were up to her; she'd just be roaming around using her skills for the highest payer or would have stuck with her last job ;p Link to comment
Hammersmith Posted May 11, 2015 Share #15 Posted May 11, 2015 Oh, there's reasons. There's a looooot of reasons. Just none of them anyone else needs to hear. Link to comment
Grott Posted May 11, 2015 Share #16 Posted May 11, 2015 Uther Skystrider, my first character, is from Ishgard and has already gone back. I probably won't be playing him until the expansion. Eko Tenok, my current character, is going there in hopes of finding Uther and helping him however he can. Link to comment
Dravus Posted May 11, 2015 Share #17 Posted May 11, 2015 Graeham hopes to forge stronger ties between Ishgard and the rest of Eorzea. He's also caught the interest of an Ishgardian who has become a friend and lover so he'll be seeking to aid his companion when outsiders are permitted entry. Other than that? His youthful curiosity will win out and he'll want to see it for himself. I didn't want him to simply show up and enter abruptly though. I've been enjoying a solid storyline with a friend that'll conclude with him being permitted entry as an ally of his travelling companion once Heavensward is upon us. Link to comment
Desu Nee Posted May 11, 2015 Share #18 Posted May 11, 2015 Knowledge. Think of all that sweet, sweet knowledge and lands she can explore and learn. Link to comment
Martiallais Posted May 11, 2015 Share #19 Posted May 11, 2015 Being an Ishgardian elezen. He he he. Easy wasn't it? I'm in the same boat. Though Jess's homecoming is more for...revenge, of sorts, and less a desire to actually visit Ishgard, lol For Martiallais, same deal. With Zarek, it's probably going to be one part testing himself and one part that the Free Company he works with is moving to aid Ishgard now that the gates are open. Ishgard will be a nice new land to wander around and find nice spots to relax in, aside from the whole war with dravanians thing. Link to comment
Maril Posted May 11, 2015 Share #20 Posted May 11, 2015 Nailah: She is a woman who adores travelling more than anything, and quite likely, anyone. She's going to go as soon as she deems it safe enough, and she is going to be VERY excited about it. Link to comment
Seriphyn Posted May 11, 2015 Share #21 Posted May 11, 2015 Hmm, I presume the Immortal Flames will be sent up there...they were for 2.55 at least! And considering that us PCs will always have ties to Grand Companies (technically), I think there'll be some handwavey excuses available. Link to comment

Some sort of exploratory or diplomatic escort business. Link to comment
Aris Posted May 11, 2015 Share #23 Posted May 11, 2015 My character works at a smithy and is hoping to find new clients there. On that note, if anyone wanted a reason to go.. she's no fighter, so might need a merc escort to travel there safely. Link to comment
Flickering Ember Posted May 11, 2015 Share #24 Posted May 11, 2015 Pretty much a wait and see thing for me. I don't know yet just how involved Ciel will be in stuff in and around Ishgard canon, and she'll probably have her hands full with other things including looking for certain people who may or may not have disappeared. This for me. Ember really doesn't like cold environments to the point of fearing them. Not all points of Heavensward areas are locked into eternal winter but if they are rather cold as well, just minus the snow or if she has to go through Coerthas to get to them, then I can't see her going. Unless I end up losing a lot of RP by not allowing her to go then I suppose I will try to find an excuse. Link to comment
Kurt S. Posted May 11, 2015 Share #25 Posted May 11, 2015 Ramona and Nah would go up there for various reasons but the common denominator would be 'adventure' Ramona also believes she could maybe harvest some new materials to add to her business's selection of raw materials or open up a branch in Ishgard with the help of her NPC elezen retainer...at least Ramen thinks that Elezen is Ishgardian...can't be too hard to pass her off as one if she isn't just gotta teach her how to permanently point her elezen nose upward and act more racist and Xenophobic. Nah would find a very Nah reason to go up there on top of going on an adventure. Kurt's at the mercy of the RWings. So unless they send him on a venture there or something, he might not get much of a chance considering how far and hard it might be to travel Ul'dah-Ishgard as opposed to Ul'dah-Gridania/Limsa.
