  1. The lines are heavily blurred for me these days. I used to be very plot-driven, not taking much interest in bar-rp save for the purpose of icly picking up rumors. Though, at the time (5ish years ago) I was very much also a bit of a bubble-rper, and most notably not responsible for a guild, I was just me. And new. So very new. I absolutely loved it and without that experience I wouldn't have stuck to RP. And whilst I still love and adore plot-driven stuff, after four years as a GM in two games, I am ah.. A bit exhausted, perhaps. That, and I find it very hard to do the kind of free-flowing plotting that I love so much, more often than not what I bump into around and about is "railroaded" RP, meaning RP that partly has a script - several things are pre-determined and influence from characters is pre-written in the shape of clues given to stragetically picked people at stragetic times. Granted, sometimes they're done so well that it takes me a while to realize what is going on, but regardless there's something about railroaded RP that turns me off. I like it when your characters actions can lead to inpredictable consequences, and where goals are not always reached in the desired way, if reached at all. I have ideas, one currently where I'm still searching for someone to play a villain, abeit it's not looking great right now - getting them out there is difficult, and again I do not like to predetermine everything. To that end as well, I do not feel I can plot a whole lot with my main character because everything she does directly influences the company - and going on vendetta against her is not just her alone but also the people she leads as an extension. So what I end up doing is more along the lines of slice of life, combined with your average day as a guildleader and an event-driven motivation if you can call it that. I really enjoy making larger events both for my FC and ones that are open to all. All of my characters are non-fighters, and Nailah is almost a borderline anti-sue (I took the test) which I think is a reaction of my roleplay in the game before XIV where I played a (Lore-wise a-okay) overpowered magician and I think I just got really tired of that. TL;DR: What do I prefer? A mix. I like freestyled plots, I also like visiting bars. What do I end up doing? Slice of life.
  2. I think it has been a while since I showed my face here.. I recently got half of my hair cut off so I think an update was due.
  3. This one is on netflix and exists in a dubbed version, I stumbled over it and.. Fell completely in love. Ouran Highschool Host Club I do not usually watch anime, so I was quite surprised when I took a shining to this one. It's centered around a highschool where there is a so-called host club. There's drama, intrigue and surprisingly deep moments and themes in it. I believe it's what is referred to as a girl-anime, because the target audience is female. My favorite characters from it is of course the twins. Oh my word the twins. Go watch it, and on a side-note if anyone knows any anime similar to this.. Please let me know it's name. The downside to my enjoyment of animes is that I rely on them being dubbed, I am not good at keeping focus on watching things and so I rely on audio I can understand so I do not get lost in the plot.
  4. Watched it live, it was so awesome. It's a shame they said it was just a joke
  5. Here's a twitch stream of the stream (Yo dawg): http://www.twitch.tv/kuranamiyoshi_a Doesn't require a log in. The streamer is translating important points but not the full thing.
  6. This is on right now: http://live2.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv218294890#_=_ I was able to see it by translating the page with google translate and then clicking sign up with facebook. Yoshi-P is dressed as a Miqote Machinist
  7. I never knew glasses could look so good on a highlander
  8. Well unless something has changed since last I've seen, you won't be able too. Only FC leaders and a delegate can attend. Which means any outside interaction will be excluded. That may have changed though. Just chiming in to re-confirm that I am still going to stream all of this. I'll be using Twitch which has a chat that people both inside and outside (eg the people just watching via stream) can use. *rolls back out* That makes me wonder would it help people feel more at ease if we have a time set aside for people outside the event to field questions? Like... "Hey, I'm looking for a FC with XYZ, do any of you do that?" "Hey I noticed some of you liked XYZ. Well I have a ic business in a personal house that does XYZ. Just throwing that out there." I'd definitely be open to try and help with getting some questions across and the likes, if people were interested in it. I'd say set some time aside for it, and then we'll see if there's any interest for it on the day. I'm going to do a test soon and see what options I have for moderating chat as well (should it be needed, I doubt it will).

  10. We regularily have events in EU times these days, both thanks to the number of EU'ers that are on the server but also thanks to some NA people placing events earlier so as to open it up to some of us
  11. Just rolling in to say that your times translate to 5am-8am CEST.. 4-7am for brits (5-6 hour time difference) - unless I got something wrong. I'm not entirely sure a EU company would be compatible at those hours - at least, we do not have anyone active so early in the morning. Best of luck with your search though
  12. I am rather pale, being scandinavian and all - Nailah resembles me in the summer when I've had a slight tan. Thala'to is grey and well. I am not, unless I've been rolling about in something grey like.. sand or so. Which I do not really do My seeker cat is far more tanned than I could ever hope to be. I tend to go with what I think looks best overall but I also think some other things into it, like for example with Nailah, she's a natural redhead and so I felt it wouldn't make sense if she was really really tanned. She also has some of the issues with sun redheads have and actually uses lotions in order to be able to function in Thanalan without turning into a shrimp, but she has done it for so long it's sort of a second nature to her now.
  13. Nailah usually carries around a shoulderbag sorta like this one: Something fairly simple and practical. She's still partly stuck in her old ways or wandering and surviving, so.. Here's what she runs around with: - Basic first aid stuff like bandages and mild pain-killer potions. Syringes. Herbs/roots that have some healing benefit. - A pair of scissors. - A length of rope, folded together so that it doesn't take up much space. - Several utility knives, typically she has one hidden on her body as well as in her bag. - A small, palm-sized focus, very hidden on her person. - A metal flask filled with wine. - A waterskin - Jerky. Jerky is important. - Gil, in pouches, tied around her waist. - Linkpearl which is stuck to an ornamental ear-brace on her right ear. - Flint and tinder, as well as a small pouch of chopped up pinecones (or whatever eorzean that might resemble it) for helping a fire get started. - If she's going hunting, she will carry her bow, quiver, arrows & assorted trapping equipment. Also, spare arrow tips and a knife fit for carving new arrows. - Herbs and spices. In case something had to be cooked over a fire she started. - And last but not least, her face-paint powder (she mixes it up with water) for when the mark on her cheek has to be refreshed (weekly, usually). Depending on her paranoia, she may ramp up her self-defense armaments to include poisons, sometimes in the shape of darts that can be tossed at people after you remove a little safety cap.
  14. 10/10 would steal bandana (and probably get hell for it )
  15. Off the top of my head I'd imagine most problems could come from strangers that do not know her, and tend to be more judgemental than not. Wailers might try to frame her for something despite being innocent, if they're being especially bad. Strangers may pass a judgemental comment, refuse to trade with her, ignore her presence in a crowd etc. I think the disliking could be compared to how a lot of Ul'dahrans regard highlanders as leeches, they've maybe become more tolerated with time - but hearing the odd negative comment or getting shut out from certain places would still be a thing. I don't think keepers would be outright hunted down and harmed though, not in these times, lest there was a group of people that specificly did that. I think harming people with no "noble" intent though is against the gridanian law? (Don't quote me on it, but that's how I think it might be)
  16. I quite agree, Cliques aren't bad when you manage them well - thinking from a guildleaders perspective here. I actively make shake-em-up events in my own guild where, unbeknownst to my members, I try to put them in situations where they get to roleplay with people that I've noticed they usually do not RP with. When they go bad it does spark a lot of problems though, and can have some nasty results like collapsing in on themselves in a mass-burnout, isolating them from other players for so long that once someone stops playing they feel lost, heck it can even cause smaller guild splits. If you can't introduce someone new to a clique then that's a sure sign that there's a problem which needs to be adressed in some regard. It's difficult being a new player in a guild and that's something I personally have a big focus on, and sometimes it only takes a little bit to solve. I also think that cliques are completely unavoidable in RP communities, and there's always going to be bad ones around as well. But trying to do anything about it on a community perspective is.. Really I would just stick to making sure things are fine in the FC you're in. Don't worry about breaking in too much, I'd even say if you try too hard to break into a clique you may end up with less results than if you were to just go about your stuff - sometimes new cliques can form around you where you're in. And you might not really notice it's a clique either, which is also a thing for a lot of people. Something I've also noticed a bit recently and - I really don't want to step on peoples toes - is the amount of talking people do about this supposed one big popular group of posters that exist on the RPC. I won't lie, even I have been under the assumption that such a group might exist but, after being here for so long I can more clearly see that there isn't just one big group, and actually some of the most popular posters don't seem to interact outside of the RPC. At least for what is visible. Anyways, my point with this is that the more you talk about and big up this group of populars, the more power you actually add to it and the more you give it the possibility to actually manifest. I know not giving a fuck can be hard, but that's really the only way that something like that really can get solved.. When you stop regarding those groups with awe/hate/starstruck-like levels of respect/upsetness they automatically become just regular people that post, sometimes a lot. It's also something I can imagine most of the targets for this attention are wanting to feel like. I by no means consider myself popular, but I've had whispers from people recently that - whilst nice, good intentions and all - creeped me out a little bit because these whispers seemed to suggest they'd seen me on the RPC a lot and placed me on a high pedestal because of it. To which I'm kind of like "let me down". It's not nice when others put you in a place where they assume you can't be reached. I used to be really shy about posting here, I still am to some extend due to certain experiences, but it changed it for me when I stopped thinking that "Oh I can't jump in here because I'm just a new person and no one knows me" etc. Now I actually take comfort in the fact that most of my posts do not get responses, they sometimes get's +1's, and I've gotten just generally confident in that I can voice my opinion to some extend about some things. Which is very nice because I love talking about RP Like I have and I could go on about it for six hours in a skypecall. I'd encourage new people to post more anyday, just as long as they're nice about it and don't see lack of responses as the community ignoring you. And Tiergan, I'm with you on fleeing from reputations. I was selected as a community ambassador in my past game, and I was very vocal about defending the server I was playing on (the only RP one for EU'ers at the time) when it went under the threat of getting closed down. Despite a 100-page thread it was shut down in the end, and I got shifted onto a server where there apparently was a lot of people waiting to go "HA-HA" at me. It got too much and despite leading a guild there, I passed on the leadership and left for FFXIV. I loved being seen as someone that people could PM for help, but the other side of the coin is something that makes me not want to do that ever again. It's horrible when you get driven away from something you enjoy.
  17. Generally speaking (and as far as I have seen) people tend to assume that there are a multitude of tribes/groupings under the same letter. They'd share some ancestry, but it's not a given that your T guy would know some other T guy he might run into. I follow the same take with my seeker girl, and have planned out her tribal groupings scructure because it seemed like an important thing to flesh out. Check wiki's as other people suggests, and there's some bits of lore about the tribal structure hiding inside the miqote naming convention topic which can be found on the offical boards lore section. Good luck!
  18. This is an interesting point. I've had a couple of people suggest to me that the reputation system is not having the desired effect (which is to say, giving bennies to good users) but is instead incentivizing bad behavior as you described. I wonder if the reputation system is, at this point, perhaps causing more harm than good by creating a perception that some people are better than others. Would it better to hide reputation from other users? Remove it entirely? I would say probably hide the number away in the first go. Some others have commented already that it would reduce the boastability which can have some negative consequences. Another thing to consider: Making writing a comment mandatory - So people have to say why they do it. It might spark people hold back on their +1's a bit and honestly, I'd prefer receiving one with a reason than an empty one. It's more constructive that way. It would also help with the next thing I would suggest, and that is to monitor abuse of the function (eg if someone is +1'ing everything a specific person says regardless of what it is)
  19. Nailah returns with a vengeance, unleashing a horde of actual kittens on Nako. Upon overwhelmed by kittens, she pushes him down the hill and plants a flag in it. MY HILL.
