  1. I can give the vote on the benchmark though. That's the point of feedback <_<;
  2. Though this isn't exactly a feedback thread, I thought I'd share some of my thoughts after playing around with the CC. Overall rate: 6.9/10 My major peeve is that the difference between the two clans are pretty abysmal, so I will split my list of opinions on gender rather than on clan… General: - I am HIGHLY disappointed that faces and horns are tied together, with only four options at that, and absolutely no sliders whatsoever for horns. - I think scales should have been given a colour pallette, even a small one, with dark shades for the Xaela and light shades for the Raen. - I like that tails have different shapes, but I am horribly disappointed that we cannot change their colour. - Some hairstyles seem to give extra horns. It's something that bugs me because we can change hairstyle in-game. How are we going to explain the appearance/disappearance of new horns on our heads? - The limbal rings are very interesting. Happy they don't have odd-colouring. Four-color eyes would've been too much. - The "special features" (renamed 'scales' for Au Ra, even though it includes eyeliners…) category is again dependant on what face you select. It's something I was never fond of even with the previous races. - I really like their emotes. They are a lot more tranquil and serious, something we really needed after the overly vivacious spree most of races (I think, except Elezen) displayed in 2.0. Great fodder for serious/gloomy characters. Females: - Love the shortness. - Their dance emote is very sweet and elegant, it reflects them awesomely. - Their voices are mostly atrocious. They can't laugh, and their /no's are too vocal. Their /angry is scary <_< some make me think of harpies. - Their hairstyles are elaborated and interesting, though they all seem quite "fancy" and not quite how I'd do my hair for everyday activity. Males: - Their hairstyles are all freaking amazing. Perhaps too amazing, to the point the older hairstyles all look kind of "meh" on them, wasted. - Their voices are all very awesome. - Their dance….. what is that….? - Their idle stance is awful. - Their tails are a bit shorter in comparison to female's proportions. Myeh.
  3. I'd love to have my Xaela Au Ra join a community if this can be done via linkshell. Not FC though. I need to keep him/her in mine because the room I've made with the character that I'll (eventually) name change/fantasia into an Au Ra is of use to all members. I can't take away their eatery!
  4. Thanks so much to Titor and Rakka'li! Time to get stuck on a new tier! *hugs*
  5. Hey guys, I don't know if this is still a thing, but after trying to get through T6 with DF a few more times throughout the week, I've settled my mind that I just will not get through it that way, there's always too many casualties (a good half of which came from my hand I believe, though my last DF party insisted that I was doing good and I wasn't the one wiping us). So I'm putting PF up for T6 as I write this. If anyone is bored/wanting tomes/feeling heroic, any help is mostly appreciated.
  6. As a strong ERP opposer (bear with me), and speaking as nobody else but myself, I for one stay away from it for personal tolerance reason. Personal experiences of my OOC childhood have brought me to grow scorn for sex in its entirety. I accept that people do it, mind you, nothing wrong with that. I accept less that they do it out in the public. If in real life I see two kissing, or I stumble on a sex scene on TV, I look away or change channel. Yes, it bothers me that much, don't ask... it's not as much as being prude, as being struck on the wrong nerves due to again, personal traumas of the past. That's why, while the acknowledgment of people ERPing does not bother me, finding it in /say on my chatlog just because I dared so much as to enter a zone bothers me. I'd kindly ask that whatever you do, you do it in /p, /t, or whatever other channel, because you can never know the level of sensibility of those around you. Sure, I can walk away, and I will, but chatlog doesn't work like that. Your line is going to stay in sight for a bit before I manage to push it away from my sight and my mind. And I'd also rather not blacklist every single player I catch RPing sexually-related emotes (it'd quickly hit the blacklist cap if I did, I cannot seemingly walk into the Quicksand without reading a person ICly sharing with his/her friend his/her latest games with his/her lover and their genitalia. I get it that it's "bar talk", but when I walk in a bar I never hear that stuff outloud. People lower their tone and talk exclusively with the friends at their table about it. This can be translated in /p or /t talking), as I might want to RP with them in the future and find out they're good people. It's not much that I ask. After all, my LS RPs the MSQ, and we know the community doesn't like it. So we strictly RP it on our linkshell channel. It's common courtesy to be aware of others' sensitiveness and take it into account when carrying out what we like to RP. TL;DR: When RPing, try and consider the /say channel as an IC "loud enough to have everyone around you hear it", and don't use it to describe things that IRL you wouldn't say that loud. Not everyone has your same sensibility on these topics and maybe they'd rather not read what you're doing with your SO.
  7. I'd definitely like FFXII's airship instances implemented into XIV. You could choose between: Fast ride: Instant arrival to destination, like what we have currently. Cruise ride: You'd enter an instance aboard the airship inside an unlimited, looping high sky scenario (no land was in sight below, so the airship could go on forever without the worry of having to create a landscape below that matched with the real world map). You could stay in there for as long as you wanted, until you'd click on your cabine inside and select "sleep to destination". Of course, that'd also require some decent, big airships to walk around in. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd also love to see the cameo reward system of Wild Arms 5. In wild arms 5, scattered around the world were cameos of heroes of past Wild Arms titles. Doing a series of side-quests for them rewarded your character with the original costume that cameo wore in their game. XIV is sort-of doing this, but I'd love to have the cameos be actual part of the world of Eorzea and have quests that did not expire at the end of an event. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lastly, horseback battles in Wild Arms 3 were a fucking blast.
  8. [spoilers] It continues! Now my homework is talking about endgame! Hazard: The danger! Variety: The turns! Deterioration: Bahamut drinking on the aether! Treatment: Bahamut being healed, sort of? I've only done up to T5. Pairing: The twins! Coil: !!!! Remains: Of Bahamut! Benediction: The Warrior of Light! Calamity: !!!!! Appearance: Of you-know-who in Coil....!!
  9. We never learn anything about that Adventurer's past. So personally, I don't think that makes them a good example for a roleplay character. Often at least, roleplayers like to ground their characters in history and lore, the depth and richness of which depends on how important it is to the character as well as the player. Most definitely though, completely making things up does streamline the process of character creation. I think that's why it holds an intrinsic appeal to some people. It's just a plot device to justify why you need everything explained to you for the sake of being expositional about the story and lore, that's all. No-one should really read into the actual situation of the PC itself. Having said that, I think Blue's point was simply that there are always exceptions to the rule. I don't think that was their point. They were actually rebutting the sentiment that people might be jumping the gun by roleplaying an Au Ra without knowing anything about what they are, where they come from, or even how they are named. When it comes to creating a character, I don't believe making more exceptions necessarily makes a character more exceptional. It goes beyond the traditional history of a race to found a character in their race's lore. Where a character has come from in society, tradition, family and values has an impact on the shape of a character's personality. These elements introduce the avenues and context by which a character relates to others and interprets the world around them. Why nix all that and reduce a character's race to a cosmetic choice? Actually, I was exactly making that point. If you don't want to wait for the lore, you can RP an Au Ra even now just by saying you're an adventurer from an unknown land. Exceptions are possible and very well allowed, it's not impossible.
  10. We should not forget that The Adventurer, whichever the race, is supposed to come from an unknown foreign land. This alone is a very valid excuse to RP a character which does not follow the typical culture of each specific race and clan. If you plan to RP X race hailing from Y land, then yeah, you need to do some research, but otherwise, everything is perfectly legit. Also, I am very happy to hear of the Xaelan Au Ra. It seems a very valid answer to all those seeking to RP non-Doman Au Ra (including Au Ra RPers who intend to have been in Eorzea since before Yugiri and her ship came). I have a friend who intends to RP an Au Ra who is not from Doman (he isn't a fan of japanese/eastern culture), and he was super happy to read this bit about the Xaelan clan being nomadic. I'm glad for him. As for me, I think I'll roll a Raen. Though, you won't find me trying to speak japanese in /say because of it. I'll just resort to "/em talks with the fellow connational in an incomprehensible language to the local Eorzeans.", and keep it classy. <_< I'm also looking forward to cringe at all the japanese slangs mixed with English that people will use (kawaii, senpai, etc.) ugh...!
  11. I've always and only RPd gil/item transactions as pretend, without actually trading any in-game thing with other RPers, and that is how I shall keep doing it. I'm one of those who not only cringes at date auctions events, but at any auction event that actually asks for actual gil transactions. I don't know... I guess that since I consider RP as in-game content, and am a firm opponent to mercing and people who "sell wins" or "sell spots" to in-game raids and other game content, the comparison is probably what makes these things a no-no to me. We're all in there, we're all doing the same thing, we're all enjoying ourselves.. why should someone get profit off the other for that? But again, that is just me. Happy gaming to whoever has a different view on this. (Oh and yes, we did make one fundraising event with no gil transactions! It was the theater play Archrangers Return!) And as far as activity goes, at least on my part, we (ToH) run one every week. We just don't post them on the calendar because it's MSQ RP events and we prefer to avoid griefing. We do put non-MSQ-related RP events on the calendar, and so far we've done only two of those, I admit. We don't do many of them because every time it's such a struggle to get even a handful of people to show up x_X .... we get discouraged easily and end up preferring to just do our own thing.
  12. You can always ask for the acolyte coat which is nice once colored Oh, no no. As I said, it was the gloves I wanted (I'm currently using the battlemage's robe for her, I really like the belt with ether flasks on it!). Thanks for the offer though!
  13. Just a small note for those who like me, almost made a post only to then realize it couldn't work. I was about to ask a battlemage's gloves for Blue's 45 whm when I realized thaaat... The crafted ilvl90s have a lv50 requirement (yep, I'm that derp), and: While Battlemage's Set is for all DoM, the crafted one is only for THM/BLM, ACN/SMN While Acolyte's set is for all DoM, the crafted one is only CNJ/WHM, ACN/SCH While Foestriker's set is for all DoW, the crafted one is only for ARC/BRD (seriously, SE?) While Infantry set is for all DoW, the crafted one is only for PUG/MNK, ROG/NIN So yeah, make sure you have the right class leveled first Back to Brayflox I go.
  14. So as per here: http://gyazo.com/ed62d177c244475b02a7fc084ae81dbf It is confirmed and official as my fears had been. Jobs will require full MSQ completion, which means that they have a lv50 and several other things completion requirements. At that point, saying that to unlock an HW job you'll just need a lv30 job is kind of biased. Oh well, condolences to all those who had hoped to continue/redo the story as a HW job like I had. Siiiiigh.... see you in Heavensward.
  15. Jet'a is totally the Great Prince always so composed...
  16. I'd like an Aevis And a dark pegasus, but not with the unicorn/warsteed/elemental horse model please.. that is dreadful.
  17. (My RP group is currently taking refuge in the Church of Saint Landama, and will be there for the next two weeks so real-time, so I'll likely be there to see this. My condolences both OOC and IC)).
  18. Oh boy, I did those quests long ago and I don't even remember the dialogues clearly, but the way I understood it (and the way my memory "stored" that information"), the lifestream can sometimes, when really concentrated, form clusters of crystallized aether, and when it's strong enough, it will exudate from the earth, rock and wood and become solid in the form of minerals. So I suppose it works a bit like amber (fossilized tree resin, not sap) in real life? I think that would explain why you can gather crystal clusters in Mor Dhona, which is an area clearly abundant of solid aether since the Calamity.
  19. Though I've answered as Jet'a to the poll, I actually made each of my characters with one of the eight elements in mind, since I have 8 slots anyway . Each character was made with characteristics and personality that I think reflect one of the elements, it's just an habit I have. Jet'a: Ice. Cold demeanor, slow movements, he doesn't run around, and seem to prefer to stand still even as he fights. Though he is a BLM OOC, IC I RP him as an icemancer. I might start to dab him on SMN if the Shiva Egi is released (and he'd only use that one IC), we'll see. He also has ice blue eyes. Blue: Water. Much like water does, Blue seems dependant on who she is with in whatever situation, not existing by herself. She always needs a "container" of sorts, one who will shape her into a real person. Much like how water has no form in itself, Blue shows no emotion on a normal basis, though she is easily affected by others. Her hair and eyes are of a deep ocean blue. Vincent: Light. Polite, pure, innocent and kind. Vincent is a conjurer in and out, existing for the sole purpose to soothe others. He has white ear clasps and prefers to dress white in general. Chiara: Earth. Motherly and nurturing, Chiara is the embodiment of earth. She dresses in gold armor when she fights (she's a paladin, a protector, a quality often associated to Earth, think of Titan-Egi for example), and in autumnal/earthy colors when she doesn't. As a goldsmith, she works with ores, elements provided by earth itself. Her eyes are amber-coloured. Kujh'a: Thunder. Kujh'a's ambition to become a dragoon is no coincidence. Like thunder, the idea of performing jumps and striking from above with a single, precise attack excites him. He has an "electric" personality, unable to stand still and loving adventure. His excitement in life sometimes "shocks" those near him. I made him hate rain as a pun at this thundery nature. Dylise (now dead)/To be Au-Ra female: Wind. Dylise had an aery temperament, loving to travel and never staying in the same place for long, but always carrying with her something from the places she last saw (scents in the wind). Her personality could be soothing to some, like a breeze, or violent like a storm. She was a bard, as songs are often associated with the "air". Clive: Fire. Born and raised in Ala Mhigo, and a martial arts performer by profession, Clive's wild temperament is nothing if not firey. His passion for women is associated in the same way as fire is often seen as the element of passion and sex, but at the same time, he is detached with his partners, not wanting their company out of the bedroom (scorching passion) and not seeking commitment. His hatred for beastmen and the Gods inherited from his Garlean education made him into a warrior who leaves nothing but ashes behind himself. Plus, he's hot. Valeria(to be Fantasia'd/name changed into my Au Ra male): Valeria is a traitor to her nation, she works as an underling for a black marketeer and a slave trader, and her fate is pretty surely death. Once I take care of that, she will be turned into an Au Ra Dark Knight, and I think I need nothing else to show how fitting that is to the element of this character slot.
  20. As I have stated back in that old thread I made about us anti-social grump characters (I used "introvert" back there, but that's what it is really), we work with a double-edged blade here. Not only our character imposes some limits when it comes to socializing with randomers, but there is also a sort of "thing" that I have yet to understand that brings other RPers to avoid our type of character. Most of people don't like talking with characters who do not immediately spill out everything about themselves or do not seem willing to open up easily, and more than once I have been walked out because of that. We are not entertaining, I guess? I for one am a strong believer that friendships (or more) shouldn't form by the minute. My character grows fond of people over time, after the barrier of distrust towards a stranger (let's not forget, we RP in a world with robbery and murder, so don't be surprised if I refuse the tea you offer by walking up to me without even introducing yourself. I don't want to die.), and then the one of confidentiality with acquaitances are passed. Sadly, a lot of RPers seem to want to rush through those, and if you aren't fast enough, they'll move on to look for someone who is. A bright example is the one of that time a girl walked up to me, and after a semi-normal conversation (I received a bit of TMI on her part that I feel would not occur in real life), she invited me to her house. I declined, because... I don't remember ever accepting to go to someone's place after meeting them for the first time in my life. It's just something not realistic and that I feel I shouldn't do both OOC and IC. That was enough for her to decide that there was nothing more to be discussed and she moved on to someone else, to whom she then extended the very same offer. I guess she was just OOCly excited to show off her new house perhaps, and while I am wary of OOC leaks I try to be tolerant towards them but... some are just too much ... Anyways, back on topic... The only advice I can give you is to have your character be forced to interact with others by an NPC you can control or a friend who sets it up. To make an example: in FFXI I RPd a samurai boy who was... not even anti-social grump. He was an outright moronic jerk. To have him tie up to the RP group (we were the only RP LS in all of Siren), I had his boss at the Metalwork charging him with escorting the main RP group, whether he wanted it or not. It was his job to do so. That forced my character to stay and travel along with the others, and eventally barriers were broken and bonds were formed. It may be a little more complicated to do in an open-world RP server, but maybe you could have Tiergan be tasked with something that'd force him to look for other people's aid/opinions. Your plot comes to mind for example, is it still going? (I wish I had more chances to get into it btw, sadly the grades and my RP LS kept me hella busy, especially since now I am the main coordinator of the MSQ RP events >_< )
  21. It even managed to sneak in my homework...
  22. So I take the lack of answer as a yes, this will be limited only to RP FCs, and keep RP LSs out? Isn't that a bit restrictive? RP LSs usually host a wider amount of roleplayers than RP FCs do (since to join an RP FC, you have to leave another FC, you can only have one, or maybe you're just the type that doesn't want to have any FC). As I said, I do RP with both FC and LS, but our FC is only a smaller part of our universe. Like, to make a comparison, whereas our RP LS is "Hydaelyn", our RP FC is "The Star Onion Brigade in Hydaelyn". It includes only a small amount of what our RP LS has, because the LS, unlike the FC, can host even RPers who do not want to part with their FC to join ours. I hope that made sense. But if it's really just FC-restricted, it's fine. I'd just like an answer.
  23. Is this limited to FC? I belong to OOC RP LSes, but not FCs. FC is purely IC.
