  2. Status: CLOSED Europa is a linkshell for EU players, and people from other regions of the world who play during the EU peak hours (GMT) on Balmung (NA Legacy). Due to time zone differences, EU players are many hours ahead of the majority of the server's RP population. This subsequently means we have less RP and less events going on, and an increased need to stick together and organize. The LS was originally started by Rinh & Taeh then went under Sastra's leadership for some time but is now under my care. Europa serves as both a social hub and a place to find RP. In the chat, we love to see: Looking for RP messages, initiatives to starting RP etc. Advertising for events, and the planning of events - especially those in the EU peak hours. Getting connected with FC companies. We're not interested in seeing macros in the Linkshell, but spreading general awareness of existing and new FC's is encouraged. People requesting help with PVE content, forming groups & raids General chitchat that does not break the rules below Rules: Do not bring drama to the linkshell, take any disputes to /tell. Contact a gold/silver star for assistance if need be. Move personal conversations to /tell when appropriate. Debate and some strong language is expected from time to time, but don't cross the line to the obscene or abusive/vulgar. Behave respectfully towards other members, greet people, welcome new people and do your bit to make the linkshell a happy place to be. When chatting in Europa, please consider not to use excessive amounts of caps lock. Furthermore, private conversations between two people should generally take place in tells. Any breaches of these rules may result in your removal without warning. Who can join? All roleplayers can join, as long as you stick to the rules. We currently only allow 1 character per person to join, due to the LS cap. Please inform us or remove yourself if you know you're going to be in active for a longer period of time. You can always get a re-invite when you return. Contact any of the below for an invitation, or if you have any questions: Flynn Rosenberg Quinthel Moranguin 28/8/2016 update: Due to a change in leadership, Mal/Sully has stepped down and transferred leadership over to me (Flynn), therefore a new post was needed for its current leaders. We are still the same linkshell, same people, same rules 12/03/2017 update: As of today, Europa and it's linkshell/discord will commence it's shutdown and merge with our neighbour, Balmung EU Players. If you would like an invite to them, please check out their RPC page and contact either myself or one of the officers listed. If you were in either of them when they closed, don't panic. Just follow the link below to get invited into the new rooms. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=18543 - Balmung EU Players
  3. I have also been made an officer in the linkshell should anyone need any invites over the summer o/ Ingame name: Flynn Rosenberg
  4. *shrug* apparently I am boring for avoiding drama so I dunno I just tend to stay away from things that have a risk of getting retconned over something that we barely know anything about.
  5. I played it safe and went for public/community first, since this is an MMO after all. Stuck as close to the lore as I could so I wouldn't have to retcon in the future. Sure, my character background has been accused of being boring because he's not voidtouched/edgedrk/lastofmykind kind of guy, because of that I've had to avoid 80% of RP that's available to me anyway. Refugee from Ala Mhigo. Simple, done before, fairly common, very little can go wrong. I'd rather retcon a little than retcon a lot.
  6. I hear different meanings all the time for Heavy RP in other games. In the end, you RP or you don't. When I played SWTOR, Heavy RP usually meant you must be on to RP at least once a week with the guild, all the guild does is RP and not help with pve/pvp content. They might claim Heavy RP means they're lore-heavy or immersive heavy. Ask them what they think Medium/Light RP means, they will say less about the lore and more do whatever you want even if it breaks it, as well as not RPing often. So yeah, everyone always has their own version. I personally don't like any kind of RP tag. There's no clear tag for defining how active you are or how lore following you are.
  7. Going outside in the sun. The sun sucks, gonna play Skyrim or something.
  8. Flynn the Highlander was trained and adopted by a retired Lalafell Gladiator. He received the Echo during the 2.0 timeline, assumed the "meteorites falling from the sky" was just a bad dream, but learned he had it when he could understand someone talking another language.
  9. "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." It's not my cup of tea, I know others have fun with it, but I always see it as that 'edgy darkness' thing because reasons. It's illegal, but I've seen RPers openly talk about tampering with it in the Quicksand, going as far as to say they *are* a voidsent, or have a voidsent pet (I'm not even sure how that works even, there's very little I know about it because the answers people give me are different to what I google search). By all means, if you want to do it, do it, just be aware it's not something that the public might accept in the open.
  10. Flynn likes to ICly hang out more at Seventh Heaven in Mor Dhona, or Costa de Sol. You'd think names from FF7 would get those fanbois swarming the place but they're always empty when I'm around. Also Wineport is a great spot, and the Bobbing Cork in East Shroud. Need more hub activity in these places.
  11. Two and a half years here and I still haven't really met that end. My character is married and working, but still searches for that "great adventure" I promised him when he was first created. There's still a lot I haven't had my character do yet, it's down to finding the right time and people to do it with. However I have come to a dead-end in other games, simplest option is to take a break or try another game. I always found killing characters off is a last resort, or the lazy way out. You can be more creative than that if you're bored with your character.
  12. Pretty much this. I accept the lore and universe as it is and try to fit my character in where it makes sense. I'm open to everything the game has to offer, with a few exceptions like game mechanics (I don't think queueing for expert roulette and disappearing, "Be right back, I have to do my daily", counts as canon ). If something is said in RP that completely goes against lore, I just retcon my character's memory of that day. With that said I'm not a complete lore nerd, there are some things I try to bend around like how characters talk compared to NPCs. I know what *not* to say at least, the dos and donts, but I'm no excellent Shakespeare writer. When it comes down to items and objects, like the orchestrion and fantasia, I'm open to an extent. With the orchestrion, I acknowledge it in lore and in RP. As for the music playing, somewhere in this goes into a bit more detail. If I hear Titan's theme on it, my character will hear a piano/music box version of that theme, because that's what it is, a music box, not a jukebox. Fantasia? Pff, I'm not gonna bother with that.
  13. For my character, he knows the events happen worldwide but he's not directly involved (unless it's forced, like the Calamity). I give it a few weeks before making any mention or reference to the latest story patch if it's really needed. As I'm playing, I try to imagine where would Flynn fit into this, in the background perhaps? There are opportunities I have avoided.
  14. UK player here, had no problems finding RP or getting involved in content. Sure there's a lot more US events than EU ones but they are the larger population. If you happen to sub I'd recommend joining a linkshell, like Europa (Mostly EU) and Hugs and Cake (Mixed). You'll no doubt find other people looking for RP in those, as well as finding the right FC.
  15. Main Character's Name: Flynn Rosenberg Brief descriptions and/or links to any Wiki's: An adventurer for hire Usually online between: 7PM BST - 11PM BST Intensity: Medium-heavy but experienced, casual with activity, can't promise I'll always be there.
  16. Hello! Just dropping in with a small monthly update. We are still active and looking for new blood to join us, here is our website in case you may have missed it if you wish to register: http://www.crystalline-rp.net/ To get some more activity going, we have recently started up a weekly voluntary FATE RP event. Over the past few weeks, our beloved leader has lead these events by taking small interested groups to a new part of Eorzea each week. During this event we travel together and help out the locals, take on challenging beasts that have caused a disturbance, or even DMed something completely different. Though we have a scheduled time and date, we are looking to offer a different time or at least have an updated roster of folks's time for other stuff. Since most of us have crazy schedules, we do not usually rely on being punctual, as such they are voluntary and every member is encouraged to create their own RP. We hope that peaks peoples interests. If so, our website is above and feel free to contact us in game
  17. I made a graph about this, it needs filling in with books and comics though, only added games and tv shows/movies for now. Also forgot to add Rogue One just under the trilogies. http://s30.postimg.org/9ie5yzk1t/Untitled.jpg Basically all EU is non-canon and is put into Legends, Lucasfilm/Disney can pick and choose elements from Legends and retell it in their own way, as you said. Do people like and hate it? Yes, that's just their opinion. I'm personally thankful this happened (Goodbye Starkiller!). They've already put a lot of Legends content in Clone Wars and Rebels, and as Pablo Hidalgo says in his Q&A on Rebels Recon, just because something from Legends is there doesn't automatically make its story canon. Malachor is in Kotor 2 and Rebels. Same planet, both stories share the planet, but both have different stories. EDIT: Then again Malachor V was the only thing mentioned in the KOTOR series, in Clone Wars and Rebels it was simply Malachor.
  18. As a big Star Wars fan I'm obviously looking forward to it. I'm curious to see how Rebels Season 3 will tie into this.
  19. It's a pickle, but as everyone has already said, you both should talk. As someone who is also ICly married (and OOCly in a relationship with the same person) I can understand certain boundaries, however they are easily solved. For example, me and my partner trust each other enough that we don't need to RP with each other 24/7, and just like our characters they won't flirt with other people and reject being flirted with, but that's our decision.
  20. Comment by a dev: "So yes, the Midlander male, Miqo’te female, Roegadyn male, Elezen female, and Lalafell female in the recent trailers are in fact the same ones that appeared in the 1.0 trailer! (Yes, the black mage is the Elezen female from the morbol party, not the snooty male from the Midlander’s party. The robe & hat conceal some of her more distinguishing features, and we all know there was no bust size adjustment feature back in 1.0). But that still leaves one question—was the party an actual party, or were they merely symbols meant to represent you, the players? Well, you can breathe easy knowing they are both. They all ventured into Eorzea at the same time as you did. They all did similar quests, and lived through similar adventures. They exist as your characters exist (in a virtual world-sort of existence). The fact that you haven’t come across them is probably the same reason you haven’t come across my character, Amanda Hugginkyss (or maybe you have? /wink). They’re just somewhere else. Though, maybe you’ll stumble across their party in the future. Or maybe you won’t. How’s that for committing to an answer?" Though I can't find the original source, this basically says Derplander and pals exist like our characters do, we just haven't seen them until recently in 3.1, confirming our WoL isn't Derplander.
  21. Pretty much this right here has always been the norm for me, whatever universe or game I'm RPing in.
  22. RPing FATES can be pretty fun. Our group likes to venture certain areas and take part in the ones that seem regular, like escorting someone who is being attacked does happen out in the world. The areas that have the least activity are best suited. But this is another topic entirely. Just because it's a mechanic doesn't mean it's dismissively non-canon. I had this argument with someone who said Levemetes aren't real, and neither are certain swords because they're "impractical and don't suit the universe". Well, they're there, they're purchasable from vendors. I say they're as canon as Hildebrand.
