Furthermore, housing prices will be adjusted and unified for all Worlds based on current population counts and economic conditions. Additional Plots Wards 9 through 12 will be added to all residential districts. Subdivisions will also be available in these new wards, resulting in a total of 240 new plots of land for each district. Price Adjustments Each World was originally placed in one of several pricing groups based on population and economic climate. However, after reviewing the current conditions of each World, we have decided to unify the starting prices for land on all Worlds starting with patch 3.3. The designated prices for all plots of land will be reduced every six hours, dropping to half of the original price over the course of thirty days. Kage Posted May 11, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2016 They're actually -lowering- the prices. That's all my brain will engage with atm Link to comment
Aedan Marceaux Posted May 11, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2016 More housing! Yay! It's cheaper! ... I would say yay, but I can only see that meaning that every single plot is going to be gobbled up within 10 minutes again.... Link to comment
Kage Posted May 11, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2016 Something like that. I have somewhere between just less than half or more than half of what's needed so I can try to upgrade my FC's plot but I don't have all of it quite yet and I dunno if we'd come up with all of them plus being able to let the plot we currently have go to get it. blerghhhh FC leader telling me not to worry and just think about it later but I fucking love my FC and want to get them a nicer plot but berhhghgj Link to comment

U'roh Tia Posted May 11, 2016 Share #6 Posted May 11, 2016 Well, I may finally be able to have my own house. At least till Ishgard housing. Link to comment

A'mahri Posted May 11, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 11, 2016 The hype is absolutely real right now. Maybe I'll be able to grab a house for my FC instead of having to shake my fist at those who ask for +500% the original price. Hopefully they aren't all gone within ten minutes, but I think the extra plots will give a little bit of extra time ; v ; Thank you, SE! Link to comment
Lydia Lightfoot Posted May 11, 2016 Share #9 Posted May 11, 2016 Sadly, 4 new wards on our server is... well, I mean it's better than zero, but it doesn't really resolve anything for more than a day or two if we're very optimistic. Meanwhile, 4 wards on the low pop servers that already have vacant housing won't help them either (though the lower pricing will). I wonder why they won't make it auto-generate additional wards if current wards fill up of a given house size. Yeah, yeah, PS3 limitations, blah blah, but you know what, they could just make it so PS3 users can't see wards beyond Ward 8 on the list at all (and if a PS3 user doesn't like it, their local Gamestop would probably love to talk to them about trade-in credit towards a used PS4). 1 Link to comment
S'imba Posted May 11, 2016 Share #10 Posted May 11, 2016 I think housing will always have this problem, at least on balmung. The server is becoming more and more populated. As shitty as it sounds SE really needs to fix the character transfer loophole. (According to the character transfer page people aren't supposed to be able to character transfer to servers closed to character creation.) I doubt it would do much to help the problem but I do feel they'll never be able to have enough housing if people are still able to flood the server. Link to comment
Arrelaine Posted May 11, 2016 Share #11 Posted May 11, 2016 I think it would help more if there were some sort of cooldown on buying multiple houses per account. There are a lot of house flippers out there. A lot of the people who are transferring are transferring in alts with mains already on Balmung, too. Link to comment
Lydia Lightfoot Posted May 11, 2016 Share #12 Posted May 11, 2016 IMO the best thing they could do for Balmung would be to set it so that transfers departing creation-locked servers are free. We'd likely see the population ease a bit due to that. Probably not enough to get the server unlocked, but that's a good thing if you ask me, I like not having gold farmer spam constantly. S'imba Posted May 11, 2016 Share #13 Posted May 11, 2016 That would be ideal, but I don't exactly have a ton of faith SE would do that. Especially since the transfer page says those that transfer onto a world will be asked to transfer to a different server if the population gets too high. But I digress cause that's getting off topic. Basically my point was that in addition to own houses they need to do something about the population, or else there will always be a deficit in housing. Though I do like the idea of housing being limited to one per account. Even though I'm sure it would make a lot of home owner rpers bent out of shape over it. Link to comment
CalebAgron Posted May 11, 2016 Share #14 Posted May 11, 2016 Yea doubling the 8 wards they currently have would have been a slightly better option. Though for Balmung nothing short of triple the 8 would cause even a slight dent in the market. But this is square were talking about, a company not know to have smart employees, at least when it comes to housing. Now it will just be mad dashes for the few houses that are being added. So question is, who is going for what lot in what area? My heart has been set on lavender beds and that's where I will be going the second servers come back up. Link to comment

Kilieit Posted May 11, 2016 Share #16 Posted May 11, 2016 This update makes it more difficult for me to get a house on all fronts. I can now afford a Balmung house - yay! but so can the rest of the server - boo. And a Siren/Zalera house is going to be further out of my reach than before. Given my PC issues (bad graphics lag that has caused me to die during full party encounters before) I think I'm going to have to give this wave a miss, and just bank on the "more wards = more chance that one plot among those in existence will become available at any given time" thing if I ever want a Mist house. Shoshopu Posted May 11, 2016 Share #17 Posted May 11, 2016 My heart has been set on lot 11 in the lavender beds and that's where I will be going the second servers come back up. I'd be afraid to share what plot I want because that would just make it a target! But on the other hand I'm kinda glad the prices are going down, because I only just barely had enough for the plot I wanted to begin with. Now I'll have a little bit of money left over to decorate with. Link to comment
Blue Posted May 12, 2016 Share #18 Posted May 12, 2016 I'm so happy, I don't even know what to say. I've been crafting for two years (twoooo years of neglecting everything else the game had to offer, gaaaah! Not even a relic weapon takes this long!) to get my FC a house... finally hit 80M the other day with the help of Mae. The idea of finally being able to give us the Mansion we wanted is making me burst. I hope it doesn't all fade away with an error 3102 when the servers go up.. I'll never need Personal Housing if I can get my FC a Large house >_< Link to comment
Parth Makeo Posted May 12, 2016 Share #19 Posted May 12, 2016 Balmung's population is so high probably because of the community and being a legacy server, a lot of the 1.0 players are adding into it. There are two things Se can do now... 1: Expand server cap. While i have no idea how they work their systems, they could potentially find some way to add more capacity by next Xpac if possible with how popular FF14 is. Yet that would also mean MORE people will be able to join Balmung and possibly cap the player count again. 2: Disable Character transfer to Balmung for good: It pains me to offer this idea but really...Transferring is hurting the population further to the point where we may never see access to make new toons on the server. I am probably of the rare kind that plays more than one physical character (5 in total not counting NPCs and including those with little bios) and i've transferred as many as i could for the time. But till they fix the problem of population control they should either shut down character transfer for Balmung or all together. While i am happy to see more homes (And hopefully no more people grabbing them and reselling them...) and the population grow, it worries me for others who may stumble upon our community who want to RP...but find out they have no way of entering because it's jam packed worse than Moonguard's Goldshire. I think they have the cash to try and expand the cap of player servers by this point. It goes for all legacy servers too. Link to comment
Gabineaux Posted May 12, 2016 Share #20 Posted May 12, 2016 I'm pretty happy the prices weren't raised. The only thing now is, will the bot army that's scripted to spam the server with new characters right after maint ruin our chances of logging in and getting our new houses? I need just a little more gil to get any of the plots of the size I want and I'm hoping they're not all gone by the time I log in. Last time wards dropped I didn't get online for a solid... I want to say 40min or so. That may be long enough for most of the plots to be gone, hence why I need more gil in case I can't afford the lowest class plot. I'd like to get the lowest possible class so I'm not left with 0 gil, but we'll see. That being the most affordable plot, those will be the first ones gone. Link to comment
ExAtomos Posted May 12, 2016 Share #21 Posted May 12, 2016 I'm happy they are adding more houses, but I REALLY wish SE had added the apartments first. I would think that would alleviate the mad dash for housing this time. Link to comment

Unnamed Mercenary Posted May 12, 2016 Share #23 Posted May 12, 2016 Probably means Apartments were too hard to have ready by 3.3. ...or maybe we'll learn more during the next Live Letter. Link to comment
Lydia Lightfoot Posted May 12, 2016 Share #24 Posted May 12, 2016 It's probably still coming in 3.3, it's a separate feature from adding new wards and lowering the cost of housing, so I could see them preferring to discuss the details of it in a separate announcement. Link to comment
Blue Posted May 12, 2016 Share #25 Posted May 12, 2016 I don't think we've reached the point where server transfer must be locked. Just last week, all newbie areas were swarmed with fresh new bots, who had been created without any maintenance necessary. I'm pretty positive of this because I reported over 50 of them in a hour <_ Link to comment
