Ok let's make this fun.

Tell me what your character would do with this forced downtime! Sleep? Drink? play with their minons?? I'll try to draw some of them before I fall asleep.

Considering where he was last U'zhan would probably be spending the day fishing and being a little bored.

Okay sorry these are going to be super sketchy since I'm sort of loopy from medication (been feeling sicky)

but i'll start off with Tim'a! Who would... probably spend his down  time laying by the water trying to nap (but having a terrible time of it because no doubt the beach is full of people!)

I think... I might go work on some art myself in the mean time. But first a nap perhaps. ;)

That aside, would be nice if an afk-kicker is implemented like for 15mins+ I forgot my game during beta for half an hour or so and I realized I was still logged in after that. I think, from what someone told me they still have people logged in for hours concerned they can't get back in.

Weeks? These issues didn't rear their ugly head untill P4 ,and Early access. All the other beta phases were extremely smooth. So as stated officially it's because there are far more people then expected >.<. Which on it's own isn't much of a excuse, but considering they didn't expect this game to sudden;y be so popular I'd say it still holds water. Second off i never said it wasn't bad. Trust me it's bad,but i wouldn't abandon it yet.

Actually, they said errors like 3102 and 90k have been around since p1, but they were only hitting a few people at the time.

I'm not abandoning anything. I'm expressing disappointment in Squeenix's poor handling of their MMO's release.

I know this sort of thing happens, and I know that due to the massive load on Square's servers and the enlarged population on the NA/EU servers that things mess up.

But at this point I'm just about ready to give up on trying to play today. It's been 3 hours with "server is full" and nothing giving me any indication as to when I'll be able to actually play.

And the updates are rather ambiguous in their wording with the whole "restricting log-ins" bit. One could easily interpret that to mean they're actively putting a cap on just how many people can play at a time, which would be terrible. I highly doubt that's what they're doing but it's honestly starting to feel that way... :frustrated:

I had one of my friends pre-order the game and with work and the nearly constant emergency maintenance sessions he's been able to play for maybe an hour since Early Access started, and I know there are others in the same situation as him.

I would guess that their restrictions are to see how stable their fixes are before opening it up to the full brunt of things.

After all, we seen a few quick emergency patches go into affect already, and they all eventually broke down again, so they are probably going a bit slower this time around (this is all conjecture on my part though).

That's pretty much what it is, the way i've seen population caps work in other MMO's is if you have a character created on that server then you have reserved space, there may be a queue but you will ALWAYS get in.

this isn't like that, we have characters on these servers but they are refusing to let us in. from what i see, when there is low server load, people can make a toon and join and play and have fun etc etc..

they are going about this all wrong, they need to restrict character creation ONLY and let the people who already have characters on their servers play. if they did that then i don't think the majority of us would have an issue.

what annoys me the most is that we pre-ordered to get early access and all we got was a glorified beta test.

Honestly that's exactly what they are doing, they are limiting the number of people on the servers (From my understanding it's a very low population cap at the moment.) so we all don't go rushing in and click on things at the same time and ultimately breaking what they had just worked so hard to fix. If happened twice yesterday with the duty finder and instance servers, we broke them, they fixed them, once the servers were back up we broke them again in a matter of minutes just from the amount of people trying to access them at the same time.

As for what Theodric would be doing...his avatar depicts it perfectly! He's likely more than a little tipsy in a tavern somewhere, flirting with anyone who happens to catch his eye or snickering after making sly and playful quips at his friends.

That's a terrible way of handling things, though, and is the furthest thing from a long term solution I can think of. If their servers can't handle the strain then they need to fix that, not alienate their player base by not letting them play.

But this is just as bad, because then the players already on the server won't be able to get their friends on the server (and make no mistake - all of the NA servers are locked right now).

They done cocked this up bad.

That's great.  But that doesn't actually fix anything.

Which means if they ever raise the cap, it's just going to go down again.  Meaning that the game would have to stay precisely as accessible as it is right now in order for things to work.

Do you really think this is a good way to start off an MMO?  :dodgy:
