1. What follows is a list of unofficial, player-made Ishgardian noble houses and their members with the purpose of helping existing and aspiring Ishgardian roleplayers establish connections, personal story background/lore and such to provide more juicy, happy RP fodder. Is it important to note that for the sake of equality, no one of these houses should be considered equal to the official High Houses of Ishgard, nor superior to the other player-made noble houses. See this thread for a reference of how the Ishgardian society and its hierarchy would look like. Similar to vassals, it is however possible for noble houses to pledge, be allied to or related through minor boundaries (engagements with distant relatives, mixed blood heritage, business, mentor/pupil relationships) to the High Houses. By minor, I mean that no existing High House NPC should be involved (example: I am Jandelaine's cousin!). For such, I will add a voice in the template to indicate the High House that your noble House may favor over the others (it should always be one). Note that this would result in rivalries and possible conflict with families pledging/allied to another High House. Also, due to the specially xenophobic nature of Ishgard per se, I will add a voice to indicate which races have been currently known/allowed to be a part of a noble house. This voice can be updated over time, so if your noble family that initially was comprised of only Wildwood and Midlanders suddenly has a rebellious heir deciding to marry a Miqo'te, this can be noted. If you wish to join a noble house made by another player, but your race is not included in the allowed/recognized race of the family, please address personally to the OOC owner of that noble house and see if changes can be arranged. We are trying our best to be friendly and welcoming to anyone, note however that who posts a new noble house is free to self-moderate applicants to it however they so wish. Please post to have your own Noble House listed here or your membership to one of those already listed if allowed to by the OOC owner. Lore-friendly names are encouraged but certainly not required! Please refer to this thread for discussion related to the Ishgardian social structure. Discussion of the specific player-made families is allowed here, however keep it light. Special thanks to K'nahli as I am using her Xaela Tribes thread as reference to organize these. Here's a little copy/paste block for easy typing: Server: Noble House Name: Pledging/Related/Serving to High House: Description: Included Races: Members: Footnotes: (Optional) NOTE: Though only Balmung and Gilgamesh directories are currently listed, I will gladly add more if people apply houses from different servers! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Green names indicate characters that remain as active members of a noble house. Blue names indicate characters whom are no longer affiliated with their noble house. Purple names indicate characters whose current noble house connections are yet undisclosed.
2. I suppose I can, since I tossed the idea. Give me a few minutes to work around a template and then I'll put it up in the Making Connections section. And it's done. Please check it out and let me know if it's not good enough. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=12719
3. Wish you had been around when I was trying to promote this kind of RP! For a little while it worked, I did my best to attend everyone's classes and give tips and encouragement where needed, but sadly when I backed off to see if it'd stay afloat, it quickly died down. I guess it was either an issue of mentors not attending reliably to their classes or/and of students not coming back for the successive sessions. It's a real shame, cause I think the mentor/student and student/student interactions are still the ones that offer the best plots and development (both in RL and in fiction, just look at all the anime based on schools and apprentices, not to mention that big monster Harry Potter was)!
4. Eh, it took us a year to put together 40M, I think I'll wait for new wards or a free relinquishment (it's rare, but it still does happen). I'll keep an eye out for the ward in case something happens.
5. My problem with that feature is that it says "Support-related feedback or suggestions." Which is vague, and could mean either "Support-related feedback" OR "Suggestions," or "Support-related feedback or Support-related suggestions," which sounds more likely. I don't think these suggestions end up being read by anyone other than the support team, since all the other buttons go to either the Game Masters or the bug squishers. "Feedback and suggestions regarding FFXIV can be posted on the official FFXIV General Discussion forums." It says that on the bottom, there. I'm gonna guess that means they only really want support-related feedback/suggestions being sent through this feature. Support is a pretty loose term however. In the most elementary sense of the term, anything that makes the gaming experience easier and more enjoyable can be defined as "support", and more specific Search functions such as an IC/RP icon do fall in that category, whereas, say, asking "omg add a tankini in-game please!" would be not.
6. Regarding the official forums, I want to leave here the link to the thread I made a while ago. Don't be afraid to bump it, it has got only positive consesus so far. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/196200-An-IC-RP-status-would-be-nice-to-have%21 Also, for those of you who don't want to use the Official Forums because they're evil!, I recommend using this feature:
7. I have also been requesting for a "IC/RP" status icon to the developers via Live Letter questions and Leave a Suggestion feature in-game. I'd like to encourage as many of you to do the same. The louder we'll be, the more likely we will get our own status icon.

Patch 3.05 Notes

Siiigh..... allowing Battle Effects filters to turn off Darkside's graphic effect is nowhere among the resolved or known issues... really, SE? -.- I'm playing DRK and damn hate having that effect on, nevermind seeing it on others >_
9. Blue has no balance whatsoever, or comprehension of it. Her attempt to move from a quay to a boat was something similar as this (skip to minute 1:00) She does not understand how gravity center works, and when someone tried to take her hand to lead her somewhere, she stared at her hand being pulled, followed by her arm, then her shoulder, and lastly her torso, until she fell on her face like a wooden board, as if her feet were glued to the floor. Everyone in her adventuring party loves to make fun of it/express concern about it, as even the easiest acrobatic feat (really, anything more complex than walking up or down a staircase) often result in Blue face-firsting to the floor.
10. I'd like to see unused plots reset feature implemented already. Tired to stare at that claimed, naked Large mansion in the Goblet. Or at those 3-4 inactive FC houses spread among the oldest wards. Flame me all you want, but if you don't use it, you don't need it. People who aren't paying their subscription shouldn't retain content that occupies space even when you're logged off.
11. Another part of the issue is that people who manage to make money easily will not hesitate to own multiple houses through alts. It's really sad to see, when it's such a limited content. When I meet people who own multiple houses I always try to talk to them to be less selfish and give away their extra homes to who has none, but they'll always be out there, you know?
12. My best in-game moment on XIV was immediately after the worst one: my very first time getting kicked out of an instance. I was on SCH at the beginning of Aurum Vale and well... I suppose the tank expected a little better from me. He pulled the whole room, and I couldn't keep up. Eos kept dying (for flying of the golden pools, among getting hit by AoEs too), and I just couldn't make it. Without so much of a word, I found myself kicked out of instance. However I didn't give in, and used Join In-Progress to return to that same group in that same instance. I know most of players are angry at kicked people being able to re-join the instances they were kicked from, but I think I was a golden example of why it's not a bad thing. I returned, without making a scene, and simply did my job. Turns out that I wasn't so bad of a healer after all. We got all the way to the last boss, and what do you know.... I walked out with 3/3 commendations. That was the best moment of my in-game career. To realize that I had made up for my mistakes and changed others' minds about my skills as a player. Not only they didn't kick me out again, but they even had a change of heart and thought I was worthy their commendation. It was a very good feeling. I don't think I've ever cared about any commendation but those.
13. your anniversary is on my birthday!
14. On the topic, I think it'd be nice to write down a directory for Ishgardian player-made noble houses, including existing members and perhaps a small paragraph about the family's background (similar to the Xaela tribes). It'd be nice to see players decide to last-name change to join others' houses or maybe engage in business/make alliances, maybe through planned engagements and so on and so forth. I'd love to make the Laucent a known name among the other Ishgardian roleplayers, especially since back my friend and I RPd it in 1.0, it was supposedly to be a rather large family.
15. Disregarding MSQ events, the Grand Companies are allies, and adventurers are hired by all three without restraints on where they can go with their company birds. Therefore, I'd say it's fairly normal to see chocobos with bardings of any GC in any area at any given time.
16. I think that's the Rogue lv15 quest, actually, and yeah.
17. Server: Balmung Location: Revenant's Toll Who may mention this: Anyone Rumor: You know that great load of refugees from Doma that has settled here for work of late? Some of them seem to be of a particular kin, Au Ra, they call them. Tailed in white scales for the most part, and it took them a while to get out of those concealing robes of theirs. They're a shy bunch, but useful for the most part, and willing to learn. Some of them already speak our tongue... except that pesky little brat with the black tail. I heard she set an inn room on fire just the other day, playing around with a mage's staff while the owner was unconscious. Can you believe that?
18. You can also see an Ul'dahn richman in Pearl Lane looking for slaves, too. He complains the highlanders there are all too old. The Vann family was captured and enslaved, and I know of many other RPers who delve into slavetrading or being slaves themselves, so it's definitely a thing.
19. The Warriors of Light from 1.0 are sort of legendary heroes, but nobody remembers their face, so they are more of a "figure". You know they existed, you know they did this and that, but you don't recall their faces. People remember them as many silhouettes of men and women standing against a great white light, hence the title. In very poor terms, it refers to all those who were at the Battle of Cartenau and got time-jumped (not like those who didn't get time-jumped or died at Cartenau weren't heroes, but the time-jump is the requirement for the "amnesia" from the other common citizens, who will, again, only remember them as figures standing against the light). The 2.0 Warrior of Light is just that adventurer who, because of his/her deeds, is being compared to the real Warriors of Light (those from 1.0). Considering the very loose requirements that are necessary to be compared to those heroes, it is easy to understand that multiple people may be branded as such, as not only a single person is deemed to fight primals, or battle against the Empire, or save lives in general.
20. So wait, the quest is repeatable if I toss the ring? I OOCly EBd with a friend's alt to get him the chocobo. Will we be able to re-do the quest if we toss the rings? Pilgrimage and all?
21. I'd like to see some "serious" ceremonies being held, such as ones related to titles and knighthoods. But "happy" celebrations feel a bit out of place in Ishgard as of now, dunno. Might be just me. Eorzea's got plenty of happy cities where to celebrate, I thought it was nice to have a city set up for more serious and gloomy atmospheres, personally.
22. Vincent is also a noble of a lower house, but sadly until I catch him up to 2.55 (thanks Yoshida :dodgy:...) I can't bring him back to Ishgard. As of now, he is just the second son of a "semi-fallen noble". His father was a temple knight, but upon receiving a wound that permanently hampered his fighting abilities, he retired in Coerthas to raise chocobos. His title wasn't stripped, but with his military career done for, the prestige of the Laucent family suffered a great deal. anyways, yeah.. see you in Ishgard one day, perhaps.
23. I get Guildhest anxiety more than dungeon anxiety, personally. Because I just know 90% of people participating will look for dumb ways to ignore mechanics. From DPSs ignoring Bubbles in More than a Feeler (ughhh!) To people killing gargoyles separatedly in Ward up (ughhhhhhh...!) To the occasional, rare dumbass who kills the gil turtle in Hero of Halfshell (gaaaahhh!) And of course, the moment you try to give directions, you're branded as asshole, no matter how many "please" you put in your sentence. :dodgy:
